One of my clients asked me to redesign a new logo for his game website, and here is a screenshot of the logo and the head of the site he's currently using:

Note: The blue laguna.net in the upper-right corner of the screenshot and the following slogan is the symbol he is currently using.

Evaluation: The biggest problem with the existing logo is not easy to identify. When the visitor comes to the website, the first eye should see the logo. We know that everyone is accustomed to reading from left to right, and this logo is on the right side and is used in close proximity to the blue, very difficult to detect.

and the original logo design without any inspiration, just use the Times New Roman font, no visual impact, so it is not easy to impress visitors.

The first step. Gather information

Collecting enough information is the key to the success of the design, but usually I ask only 5 simple questions from the client.

It's very straightforward. When the information is collected, well, start making:

1. Create a new file in PS:

The following figure: Create a new document named after the project name;

and set width 600, height 500, unit pixel, resolution 72; Mode RGB; background white.

2. Selection of fonts

At the beginning of the design, I will try a variety of fonts to find the most suitable one. Find the right one you have enough experience, the most important thing is to always remember the customer requirements. Here customers hope that the new logo can highlight the characteristics of rigorous professional, then the choice of fonts will be stable atmosphere some. At the same time to say, for you to choose font of font Library The larger the better, I myself have thousands of fonts in the computer.

Select the Font tool on the toolbar and follow the following figure to set the font properties:

In the Font tab, set AV one to -60 to shorten the font spacing and be more compact.

Enter the contents of the logo in the middle of a blank document: BLUE LAGUNA;

To keep the logo font selected, select the appropriate font in the status bar of the font:

There are usually three ways to choose fonts here:

Click the dropdown arrow to view a preview of the font

Download a font Preview program

I usually use the first way to find the right font.

When you find the font that you think is the most appropriate, then copy the text layer and hide the manuscript, only on the copied layer to do the following, so you can keep the manuscript, in case the modification failed to find this font.

3. Font analysis

Because we need to find a font that can give people a sense of rigor, we have to do a little more work in the process of analyzing fonts.

I found a few fonts that were not appropriate:

The first font too idle, everywhere a sense of unprofessional taste;

The second is very clumsy, usually as a logo font, with the inner projection of the font is not very appropriate;

The third type has no rules, so no WAY.

The fourth kind uses the calligraphy body, but already outdated, let alone the font on the water droplet effect, is unable to spit the trough;

The last major problem is not easy to identify, remember, the logo font should be clearly readable first.

Here are the fonts I think are appropriate for this project:

We can see that except for the 4th and 6, the other fonts are very similar;

1235 fonts are very simple and serious;

Although the 4th font is different, it can still reflect the seriousness of the feeling, I think it is appropriate because it can speak blue and Laguna two words connected;

The 6th font is very coarse, but it seems to be fine except for seriousness.
