1. Introduction
After completing a literature search on a topic, we hope to keep abreast of the latest literature on the subject, that is, to achieve document tracking.
For this reason, search engines and database vendors (data sources) provide two general subscription services: Mail and RSS. Once subscribed, the data source automatically pushes the latest information, eliminating the hassle of regular retrieval.
The main purpose of this article is to introduce RSS feeds. The advantages of RSS are as follows:
(1) RSS is mainly to improve the signal-to-noise ratio, only to receive the key text and pictures, interested in re-visit the webpage (fee database needs to connect campus network WiFi to access).
(2) To facilitate the realization of information aggregation reading, such as tracking the literature, you can also subscribe to the Science Network blog, Professional Forum, news.
(3) personal feeling is more suitable for mobile end of fragmented reading. An e-mail message may have multiple messages, and RSS is a single piece of information. And the mobile terminal operation is simple (after the specific operation can communicate), invalid information can also be quickly processed.
The disadvantages of RSS are as follows:
有些数据库不支持或部分支持RSS订阅
深入了解复杂耗时,如抓取网页新闻等。建议只使用简单操作。
I use the RSS reader is feedly, recommended to use. Use Google, Microsoft account login. The free account will suffice.

3. Other suggestions
1, RSS and Mail subscription is only a document tracking method. Through the academic social networking website ResearchGate and the scholar Personal homepage, etc., can direct the relevant author to realize the literature tracking.
2, RSS feeds too many messages, but also lost the ability to improve the signal-to-noise ratio. It is recommended that you do not subscribe to frequent feeds, and when you find that there are too many messages to look at, you can mark them all as read, and the previous messages as non-existent and start again.
