Linux with the USB port for printing paper or other printing, some times we need to check whether the printer is working properly, in the absence of driver installation, we can also perform print operations through the command line, if the command line can be printed correctly, indicating that the printer and Linux system communication is normal.

First, connect the USB printer. After the power is on, check to see if the/DEV/USB/LP0 device exists.

Next, set the printer's access rights. Execute command sudo chown root:lpadmin/dev/usb/lp0.

Once successful, the print can be done from the command line. Like echo "Test Printing" >/dev/usb/lp0.


If the other interface, such as parallel port, or serial port, through a similar method. Remember, the Linux device is the file.
