Symptoms

Using WinSCP to connect to VCenter Server Virtual Appliance will cause an error similar to the following:

Cause

Because the VCSA default root account Shell environment is/bin/appliancesh, log in to the VCSA server using the root account and manually modify the root shell environment to bash.
