/Usr/bin/mysqld: Unknown variable 'default-character-set = utf8' Solution

MySQL-server-5.5.11 is installed through RPM package, directly input service MySQL start on the command line, MySQL started successfully,

Then modify/etc/My. CNF, add default-character-set = utf8 to [mysqld], and restart the MySQL service. An error is returned:

Starting MySQL...
Server quit without updating PID file (/var/lib/MySQL/node1.pid ).
[Faild]

View the log/var/log/MySQL. log, and the following prompt is displayed:

/Usr/bin/mysqld: Unknown variable 'default-character-set = utf8'

It seems that

Default-character-set = utf8 this setting item is in trouble ....

I searched the internet and found someone suggested using character_set_server = utf8 to replace

Default-character-set = utf8
 
Can solve this problem,

Try again, change

Character_set_server = utf8,

It's okay to start again...
