Veeam Backup & Replication 8 installation configuration

This document is tested using Windows R2, ESXi Server version ESXi5.1, and Veeam Backup & replication software from the Internet for testing purposes only.

1. Function List

Veeam Backup & Replication is divided into three versions: standard, Enterprise, Enterprise PLUS,V8 version features as follows:

2. Installation and Configuration

Veeam Backup & Replication consists of four main components:

Veeam Backup Server

Backup Proxy

Backup Repository

Virtual Infrastructure Server

Veeam Backup server is the software main program, backup proxy is the primary process for operations such as backups and restores, and backup repository is used to manage the entire backup and recovery storage device, Virtual infrastructure Server is the component that protects the virtualized environment. Backup proxy and backup repository can be installed on the same machine as Veeam backup server or separately, and can be deployed separately in large or important production environments.

3. Start the installation process

The software comes from the Internet and is used for testing purposes only.

There are a few issues with Veeam Backup & replication versions, and you need to modify the registry to modify the following.

When you are done, it is a good idea to restart your system to make the registry effective.

After the reboot is complete, the software is opened and the Lic file is imported, which can be used normally.

4. Create a backup directory

A default directory is created, and you can customize a directory to hold the backed up files. After you click Backup infrastructure, then backup repositories.
