VeritasBackup Problems(Reprinted)
I just made some conclusions after passing the test. Please help me to confirm and study it together
1. When Veritas offline backs up catalog, can I only back up a disk or a tape to a NetBackup Tape Pool? The tapes in other tape pools (including those created by yourself) do not seem to be selected.
A: It can only be placed in the NETBACKUP pool.
2. the Veritas Backup policy can only select the Tape Pool for writing data to the tape, but cannot specify a tape in the Tape Pool. Does it mean that the policy is randomly written to the tape in the pool when writing the IMG? That is to say, once a tape pool has a policy to write something in it, it cannot be moved to another pool?
A: We recommend that you store one tape in each pool and create a scratch pool (hot standby pool, equivalent to hot spare in raid) to back up all application pools (cannot be specified to a specific pool ). Tape is written linearly, unlike disks. The data still exists in the tape after the nbu database expires and is not actually deleted. Only when the tape is full and the data in the tape expires will the data be automatically earse. If you want to delete some IMG files, you must restore them to the disk and then earse the entire tape. Before deleting an image, you are advised to perform a step-by-step check to prevent some IMG from cross-band. If there is a tape not written back to a pool, you can move it to another pool.
3. How can I check which tape an IMG has written to the pool? How to delete a specified IMG?
A: catalog-> select the IMG condition according to the condition investigation. You can also run bpimmedia-L-mediaid a00000 on the server cmd C:/program files/Veritas/NetBackup/bin/admincmd to view all the content on a tape. Check the content of an IMG on the client. Right-click this IMG and perform [expire] expiration processing. But it cannot be deleted directly from the tape. For the reason, see question 2.
4. How do I check the tape status? Is the total capacity, used space, and remaining space of a tape?
A: Run available_media on the server cmd C:/program files/Veritas/NetBackup/bin/goodies.
5. The tape is compressed by 1/2, that is, the tape itself is 400 GB, which can store compressed data of GB. Is the Veritas policy compressed when it is written to the tape? Is there a place where IMG is stored in the tape in the form of compression or non-compression?
A: No compression is performed by default. to compress, select compression in the policy ). Compression is not recommended.
6. How many times does the cleaning belt count? If you do not select a period of time to manually clean the head?
A: You can run it manually. Media and device management-> device Monitor-> on the current drive [Right-click]-> device cleaning-> clean now
7. How long can I choose to retain the data written to the tape?
A: Yes, but the expired database tape is not deleted. For the reason, see 2.
