Veritas Netbackup SQL Server native machine-to-machine backup recovery

Overview:

This experimental environment uses the VERITAS Netbackup 7.7.3 software Release to backup and restore SQL Server databases.

Native Recovery SQL database:

• First configure the hosts resolution on the SQL database natively, install the NetBackup agent client

Add the IP address resolution for the nbumaster hostname in the C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts file;

In the SQL Client server upload installation NBU client x64, the installation process is relatively simple here omit the installation steps;

• On the SQL database server, configure the NetBackup MS SQL client to generate the SQL backup script

In the backup client configuration to generate SQL backup script, save the script to the appropriate directory;

• Backup server server side add hosts address resolution, configure Backup policy policies, manual test backup

In the C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts file, add Nbumaster, Nbu client's host name corresponding IP address resolution;

Create a new backup policy, make manual backup test backups, and then backup the SQL Server database to complete;

• Test the native Recovery database on the SQL Server client

The SQL Server database client selects the database to be recovered for recovery;

The process of initiating recovery will be found at the NBU master end;

• Test the heterogeneous Recovery database on the SQL Server2 client

Configure the hosts resolution on both SQL Server database servers and NBU master;

Create the Altnames folder in the NBU Master server-side Veritas NetBackup Directory and create the No.restrictions file within the folder;

Specific path C:\Program files\veritas\netbackup\db\altnames;

Install the NetBackup Client Agent configuration on the CLIENT2 server and choose to create a save recovery heterogeneous database script;

In Client2 open client2 Netbackup MS SQL Client, select Manage Scripts Select the script you just saved, select Start recovery;

View status recovery succeeded on CLIENT2 Netbackup MS SQL Client, at which point the SQL Server database was successfully recovered;
