We often encountered in the project to produce multiple versions of the situation, the previous version of the management method is very backward, today to introduce a new friend version cue
What is version cue
A server-based file management system for Adobe, primarily for collaborative editing and versioning.
With version Cue you can centrally manage shared project files, use intuitive version control systems to go hand in hand with others, and use annotations to track file status.
Since most of our usual projects are done on our own, let's start with a personal version control feature that applies to individual designers:
Versioning method prior to version cue:
1.Ps History Snapshot
Disadvantage: Cannot save, when the PSD file is opened again, the last edit saved history snapshot will be lost all
2.Ps Composite Layer
The function of a composite layer can be saved, the visibility of the layer, the position, the Layer style 3 properties of the change. Other changes sorry, not supported.
3. Save File as
The benefits of using version Cue versioning,
1. Can store any form of modified version,
2. You can quickly save the version, modify the version, view the contrast version, delete version, and other related operations
3. No new files are generated, all versions are attached to only one PSD master file, and no extra files are generated.
Install VC
Adobe's package will have the VC option
Start VC Settings Server
After the successful installation of VC in the Control Panel to find the installation program icon, VC icon will not appear in the program list,
Double-click the VC server to start the interface, click Start can start the VC server, check the display server tray icon in the taskbar display server connection status.
The startup process is slow, so Adobe has designed an icon that shows the progress of the startup.
If your C disk space is limited or often nothing to reload the system play, it is best to first change the location of the server data to other letter
After the server startup is complete, it will automatically open a browser window allowing you to set your server password, server name. The login name is not changed by default
After the setup is complete, save and continue, (Adobe put the end of the button on the top of the page and don't know what it is.
Enter the login interface input just set the password point login can, this time you will enter a Server Management Web page, because we only talk about the private version of the designer management so I do not consider, directly turn off the browser
Manage projects in bridge
Next we open bridge (which has been a nuisance for adobe to have to bundle it up, and it's finally coming in handy)
After you create the server, click on the VC icon under the Bridge Favorites tab to see the server icon you just created.
Double-click into the server you just created, and in the toolbar you will see a row of icons click the new Item icon (pictured below)
Enter the item name point in the pop-up window to determine
The new item appears in the content area,
Because the new project is saved in the server space by default, the disk path is difficult to manage and we need to change the location of it.
Set the location of your project
Find the Edit Properties option in the right-click menu
Click the local project file in the pop-up menu
Select the change location in the expanded interface and set the project to a location that is easy for you to manage.
Save version File
Okay, then you can create a file in Photoshop, when you save the created file to the project space that you just set up, you will find a check-in dialog box, which means that VC will have version control of your file, you can enter the version of the annotation can also let it be empty directly determine.
After the save is successful, you can see the file you just created in bridge. The bottom of the file icon has a number that shows the current number of versions.
Then we go back to PS to make changes to the file, after the change to the File menu select Check In (set a shortcut to embed, you can save the version as simple as saving the file)
View version
You go back to bridge. When you look at the file, you'll find that the bottom of the file icon has a small number of 2, which means there are two versions of the file.
Click on the View version icon on the toolbar and you will see two versions.
In the history version of the right-click menu, there is an option to upgrade to the current version, the history version can be upgraded to the current version, and VC will automatically generate the current state of a new historical version of the Save. Don't worry, your last signing was covered by a history version.
It is also important to note that files under version control are not logged to the version library when they perform a save operation, but are saved to a PSD file in the project space.
This is probably the private version of the management will be enough, what is the problem leave a message
