How to determine which version of SQL Server 2005 is running
To determine the version of Microsoft SQL Server 2005 that is running, use SQL Server Management studio to connect to SQL Server 2005 and run the following statements.

Select Serverproperty ( ' Productversion ' ) As Version,
Serverproperty ( ' Productlevel ' ) As SP,
Serverproperty ( ' Edition ' ) As Edition

The running result is as follows:
Version SP Edition
9.00.5000.00 SP4 express Edition

This method is also suitable for SQL Server 2008, SQL Server 2000, and SQL Server 7.0
