(Virtual Machine) VMware Article 3. Virtual Network Settings

By default, the virtual network card of VMware Workstation uses two network segments (corresponding to the first network card vmnet1 and the second network card vmnet8) in the range of 192.168.1.0-192.168.254.0 ). The network segments used by each network adapter are random and not fixed. It is inconvenient to use VMWare for network experiments. Generally, the network segments used by VMware are fixed to a certain extent. As shown below

The Virtual Network Card Name uses the subnet mask of the network segment

Vmnet1 (host Nic) 192.168.10.0 255.255.255.0

Vmnet2 (not installed by default) 192.168.20.0 255.255.255.0

Vmnet3 (not installed by default) 192.168.30.0 255.255.255.0

Vmnet4 (not installed by default) 192.168.40.0 255.255.255.0

Vmnet5 (not installed by default) 192.168.50.0 255.255.255.0

Vmnet6 (not installed by default) 192.168.60.0 255.255.255.0

Vmnet7 (not installed by default) 192.168.70.0 255.255.255.0

Vmnet8 (NAT Nic) 192.168.80.0 255.255.255.0

The preceding table is for unification and convenience. You can set it as needed. The following describes the meanings of virtual network services provided by VMware Workstation.

(1) In the VMware Workstation main program, select Virtual Network Setting from the edit drop-down menu.

(2) In the pop-up virtual network editor dialog box, select the summary tab, which displays the basic information about the virtual network card installed before.

(3) on the automatic bridging tab, if the host has multiple NICs, the system automatically selects an "activated" Nic as vmnet0. If the host has multiple activated NICs, you can cancel the selection and select vmnet0 Nic. If the host only has one Nic, keep this option. For example

(4) On the host virtual network mapping tab, you can configure the NIC usage of the virtual machine. First, set the vmnet1 virtual Nic, click the arrow behind vmnet1, and select subnet... in the pop-up menu.

(5) In the pop-up dialog box, you can set the network segment used by vmnet1. for example, change the address to 192.168.10.0 and click OK to make the setting take effect.

(6) If you select the DHCP... command in step (4), the IP address range of the obtained IP address is automatically allocated to the virtual machine that uses the vmnet1 Nic. The default range is from 128 to 254. The lease period is 30 minutes and the maximum is 2 hours.Note that the IP addresses of start IP address and end IP Address can only be modified to the last one, that is, the range. The network segment is modified in step (5) subnet .... In this example, 192.168.10.128 and 192.168.10.254 can only be modified to 128 and 254, while CIDR block 10 can only be modified through subnet... (do not forget to apply it or make sure it takes effect.I tried this. I don't know, right.

(7) set the network segment of vmnet8 to 192.168.80.0. Note that vmnet8 has more Nat options than vmnet1.

(8) Click the NAT command of vmnet8 to modify the NAT gateway address. The gateway can only modify the range of the last digit. The default IP address range is the 2nd IP address range, which can be modified as needed.

(9) On the host virtual adapters tab, you can add or delete a virtual network card, or temporarily disable or enable a virtual network card, and click the corresponding button. Add, enable to enable the disabled Nic, disable to disable the enabled Nic, remove to delete.

(10) In DHCP, modify the built-in DHCP server of VMware Workstation, or start or stop the DHCP server. Start is enabled, stop is disabled, and restart is restarted.

(11) on the NAT tab, you can select a NIC with the NAT Function. The default value is vmnet8. You can select a NIC from vmnet1 to vmnet9 as needed, you can also edit the parameters of the NAT service ).

Finally, do not forget to make the settings take effect.

Next, we will introduce the relationship between the virtual network card and four connection attributes, use bridged networking (using a bridge network) and Use Network Address Translation (using a NAT network) use host-only networking (using the host network) and do not use a network connecion.
