Vista + Ubuntu + VMware

Vista + Ubuntu + VMware's different dual systems-general Linux technology-Linux technology and application information. The following is a detailed description. In the past, I installed Windows Vista Ultimate + UbuntuStudio 7.04 dual-system. However, I usually do not have time to play with Ubuntu in Vista, because it is a waste of time to restart Ubuntu. Recently I thought of a YY method, mainly using VMWare's "ing physical disk" function, running VMware on Vista, and then starting the real Ubuntu on the physical hard disk in Vmware. In this way, you can use Ubuntu without restarting and save disk space, because you do not need to attach a Ubuntu virtual machine to the hard disk. This Ubuntu virtual machine adds up to a total of 240 K files

Choose File> New> Virtual Machine from the VMware menu to create a New Virtual Machine. Then, select Custom as the Ubuntu Virtual Machine. Note that when creating a virtual disk (), You must select Use a physical disk (for advanced users)

Next, map the virtual disk to the real disk of the current host and select Use individual partitions.

My hard disk partition is not configured with: C: \ for Vista system disk (NTFS format, GRUB boot), D: \ for the software tool disk (FAT32 format, GRUB boot), E: \ is a file disk (NTFS with compression format), and the remaining partitions are the swao,/home, And/root directories of Ubuntu. Only disk D and three Ubuntu partitions are mapped here.

When starting a VM. One row of errors is found. It turns out that my C: And E: disks are not found.

An error occurred while configuring X.org to start to display at last. Choose VM> Install VMware tools from the VMware menu. Vmware automatically loads the iso of the VMware graphics card driver to the optical drive. Ubuntu cannot be compiled manually with rpm. Use tar-xzf VMwareTools-6.0.0-45731.tar.gz-C ~ /Decompress the package to the/home/est directory and run sudo ~ /Vmware-tools-distrib/vmware-install.pl

Run VMware under Vista, and run Ubuntu on the real hard disk on the virtual machine.
