1. Open the Device Manager. To run Windows Vista, click Start. type devices are in the Start search box, and then click in the device Manager program list. 2. Expand the network adapter and verify whether the wireless adapter is displayed. If the wireless adapter is not displayed, one or more of the following problems may cause this problem:
◆ Wireless network adapters may not actually exist. You must install a wireless network adapter before connecting to the wireless network.
◆ The wireless adapter may not be properly connected. Shut down the computer, and delete and reconnect to the adapter.
◆ If the adapter is a USB adapter, a problem may occur on the computer with a USB port. Test your USB port by connecting to another USB device, such as USB mouse. Confirm that the USB port is working properly. If multiple USB devices are disconnected from the computer, no device is required.
3. Verify that the wireless network adapter has a yellow exclamation mark or red "X ".
◆ A yellow exclamation mark indicates that a device is faulty.
◆ Red "X" indicates that the device is disabled. Right-click the device and click Enable.
4. Double-click the wireless network adapter. On the General tab, verify that the device is working properly.
