The file extension is a group of characters added at the end of the file name to determine the program to open the file. Follow these steps to select whether Windows displays these file extensions.

Click"Start"Button,"Control Panel","Appearance and personalization"And then click"Folder Options"To open "Folder Options ".

2.

Click"View"Tab, and then"Advanced Settings"To Perform one of the following operations:

To hide the file extension, select"Hide extensions of known file types"Check box, and then click"OK".

To display the file extension, clear"Hide extensions of known file types"Check box, and then click"OK".

The operation method is slightly different from that on the Windows NT platform.
