Vmax's precopy copy split explains

Source: Internet
Author: User

There is actually no split in the Vmax storage (VNX), and Vmax's split is actually the copy completion meaning (copied), with the following two commands as an example:

1) symeclone-g DG Precopy

2) symeclone-g DG Activate

The first command actually creates a relationship between P and S-precopy, a full clone (Vmax P-s is the overall copy, vnx is an increment), such as the host hangs a volume, the whole clone this volume.

A second command is called copy.

For example, the execution time of the first command is 10:00am, the second command execution time is 15:00pm,10:00 first overall preclone, if there is no data change between the 15:00,copy amount is 0, if the change 1g,15:00 copy 1g.

That is: Precopy is the full clone, copy is incremental clone, which is the feature of Vmax.
