For the convenience of work and daily use, we often need to use both Windows and Linux systems. Here's how to set up a shared folder after installing Vmware+centos on a Windows system to make it easier to transfer files between Windows and Linux:
Install Vmtools for Linux:
Select VMware Workstation Program menu in VMS > install VMware Tools
To start Linux in the virtual machine, execute:
Mkdir/mnt/cdrom
The installation files for Mount/dev/cdrom/mnt/cdrom//vmtools are placed on the installation CD of CentOS, first to mount this CD-ROM to find the installation files
Cd/mnt/cdrom
TAR-ZXVF VMWARETOOLS-5.0.0-12124.I386.TAR.GZ-C/tmp//Unzip the installation file to/tmp
Cd/tmp/vmware-tools-distrib
./vmware-install.pl//Execute VMware Installation script, this script is written in Perl, where the installer will ask the installation file location and set the resolution of a series of issues, in most cases, the installation of the default configuration VMware Tools will work, so here's a default configuration for each of the questions by pressing the ENTER key. After installation, VMware adds a Vmhgfs module to the kernel, which can be viewed using lsmod.
2. Set up a shared directory:
Switch to the Windows desktop, select the VMware Workstation Program menu Vm>settings>options>sharedfolders >properties
Click on the "Add" button at the bottom right of the dialog box, click "Next", enter the name of the shared directory in the text box "name" (the directory name will be shown in the Linux system later in the same directory name), assuming Sharefolder; in the "Host folder" Fill in the directory that the Windows system wants to share, assuming F:\linux-cd\RedHat\Fedora_Core_4\stentz-dvd-i386, then click Done.
The next dialog box is how you choose to share:
Enable This share refers to the long-term validity of this share, the directory can read and write;
Read-only means that this share is valid for a long time, the directory is read only;
Disable after this session means that the share will expire the next time Linux is closed or suspended.
In general, select the Enable this share and then click "Done".
Since then, the Sharefolder has been set up.
Use of 3.sharefolder catalogs
To switch to a Linux system, execute:
#cd/mnt/hgfs
#ls
You can see the Sharefolder directory, and you can use commands such as CP to read and write Windows to Linux,linux to Windows.
