The common host-only, Bridge, and Nat three network connections of VMware Common virtual machines, the following is a part of personal experience sharing.
Three ways to set up a VMware network
1 host-only Connection mode
(1) Principle: Simple understanding, for the host host to add a virtual network card, the host host thus become a dual- Nic host (physical network card + virtual network card). And a virtual switch is added to the host host backend , which is a virtual LAN by the host host and all virtual institutions. Because of the dual network card, the host host can participate in two LAN (the original host area Network + new virtual local area network), by default, two LAN is not connected.
(2) Application scenario: The virtual machine can only access the host host, unable to access the external network, the host can access the external network, virtual machine.
2 Bridge (bridging) connection mode
It is simply understood that a virtual switch is added to the front-end of the host host, and then the host host and all virtual machines share the switch, assigning the virtual machine a separate IP address different from the host, and the host is in the same network segment as the virtual machine. (Virtual machine joins the local area network of the host)
Application scenario: The virtual machine can interact with the host, the external network, the external network can access the virtual machine, host host. The host can access the virtual machine, the extranet.
3 NAT Connection mode
From the outside, the virtual machine shares the host host's IP address, the VM can access the host host, the external network, the external network cannot access the virtual machine. Simple understanding, host host by the physical network card, virtual network card composed of dual-NIC host, host can access the host of the original LAN, the new virtual local area network.
Application scenario: The virtual machine can interact with the host, the external network, the external network cannot access the virtual machine, the host can access the virtual machine, the external network.
The following highlights the network settings in common NAT mode.
Ii. NAT Network Settings
1, Network Basic settings
(1) VMware configuration

With static addresses, DHCP entries do not need to be set.
(2) VM Virtual Machine Network configuration
Use static address

(3) Host host network configuration

2. DNS Settings
When a virtual machine can access an extranet IP and cannot access the URL, it can be configured with the following steps:
(1) Query the network connection details of the local NIC, get the actual DNS address, such as.
650) this.width=650; "style=" Float:none; "title=" nat-dns1-host. jpg "alt=" wkiom1wgfqoh-oo_aafceqjedqa358.jpg "src=" Http://s3.51cto.com/wyfs02/M01/6F/91/wKiom1WgfqOh-oO_AAFCEQjedqA358.jpg "/>
(2) According to the actual DNS address obtained in step 1, update the VM virtual machine configuration file, such as:

(3) Perform the service network Restart command to restart the VM Virtual machine's networking service.
650) this.width=650; "title=" nat-dns3.jpg "alt=" wkiom1wggzkrdglraaecstd8930399.jpg "src=" http://s3.51cto.com/ Wyfs02/m02/6f/91/wkiom1wggzkrdglraaecstd8930399.jpg "/>
Successfully complete the virtual Machine Access extranet task.
