Solution:
File-level retention (FLR) is an emc vnx software feature that protects files from being modified or deleted before the specified retention date. With file-level retention, you can archive data to FLR storage on a standard erasable disk through NFS or CIFS operations. FLR enables you to create a set of unchangeable permanent files and directories and ensure data integrity.
There are two different types of file-level retention available: Enterprise (FLR-E) and regulatory compliance (FLR-C ).
· FLR-E prevents users from making changes to data content through CIFS, NFS, and FTP.
· FLR-C prevents users from making changes to data content through CIFS, NFS, and FTP, as well as administrator changes and compliance with SEC rules.
Enable the FLR file system:

Default, minimum, and maximum retention period
Here we use a simple scenario to better understand the concept of Retention Periods, Retention Periods) this avoids non-compliance with business practices or government regulations due to incorrect value settings. In this example, we set the minimum value to 1 year. The default value is 3 years, and the maximum value is 7 years. If a user adds a 30-day retention period, the retention period is set to 1 year. If you do not enter, the retention period is set to 3 years. This avoids the default unlimited retention period.
Internal Lock & delete
In the new version, you no longer need to use the external FLR toolkit to process expired FLR files. Now, the internal policy engine of each file system automatically deletes expired files and locks new files.
Retention date
The VNX file is based on UNIX and has a "2038 problem", that is, they represent time in 32-bit binary. However, they can only represent 03:14:07, January 1, January 19, 2038 (binary: 01111111 11111111 11111111 11111111, 0x7FFF: FFFF) coordinated world time at most. The binary number in the next second will be 10000000 00000000 00000000 00000000, (0x8000: 0000), this is a negative number, so the system will misunderstand the time as December 13, 1901.
This problem is solved in the new version. CIFS and NFS users can specify the baseline year to calculate the file retention date after January 1, 2038 to meet commercial and government requirements, and can be specified until January 1, 100.
