ways to display line numbers at specified intervals in a Word document
1. Start Word 2013 and open the document that you want to add the line number to. On the Page Layout tab, click the Page Setup button to open the Page Setup dialog box, and on the Layout tab, click the Line Number button, as shown in Figure 1.

In the Page Setup group, click the Line Number button
, selecting the None option in the Open list cancels the addition of the line number, and selecting the continuous option will enable you to create consecutive line numbers. If you select the Renumber per section option, you can do numbering in the current section. If you select the line numbering option, you will be able to open the Layout tab of the Page Setup dialog box.
2. Open the Line Number dialog box, tick the Add line number check box, enter a value of "3" in the line spacing spinner, click OK when you finish setting, and then close the dialog box as shown in Figure 2.

3, click OK to close the Page Setup dialog box, at which point the document will add line numbers at intervals of 3 lines, as shown in Figure 3.

Attention
When you add a line number, a table is counted as a row, and one chart is a row. If the text box is embedded in the text of the page, a text box is counted as one line. If the text on the page wraps around the text box, the text lines on that page are counted, and the text in the TextBox is not counted.
