White has a variety of discoloration. White includes antique white, ivory, linen white, rice white, paper color, white, pearl white and ivory white, they will appear more moderate or less stiff than pure white. Many white can be paired with light blue to form a winter-style color plate, or a summer flavor with yellow or pink.
A small amount of white can be a great spot to light a design, or you can make dark red, green, blue and purple look more eye-catching. If you are American, French, British, Swedish (and some other countries), red, white and blue can create a patriotic color plate. Black and white are the most contrast combinations you can use to convey a sense of seriousness or comedy.
The use of white does not mean that it must be "minimalist". Minimalism does not depend on any particular color. Similarly, "white space" is not necessarily a use of white around elements. You--the designer has to make a choice.
So let's take a look at some excellent websites that use white. Not surprisingly, many of these sites use photos or pictures with white backgrounds to add a more "tidal" element to the site.
