The impact of personality on cooperation?

In the traditional sense, personality and IQ are considered to be independent of each other. However, studies over the past 30 years have shown that IQ is actually a part of personality traits. Colin Deyang, a personality neuroscientist, DeYoung in his book that many personality traits include cognitive processes and cognitive abilities. One reason for the illusion that "personality and IQ are considered to be independent" is that the measurement of IQ is through competency testing, while the measurement of personality traits is through questionnaires, but more importantly because some psychologists lack awareness of the relationship between personality and IQ.

In theory, competency testing can also be used to measure personality traits. For example, kindness can be measured by viewpoint decentration (perspective taking, or transposition thinking), and conscientiousness can be measured by self-control tests, while neurotic or emotional stability can be measured by emotional self-regulation. To think of IQ as a personality trait will help us to better understand IQ. Moreover, by placing IQ in a larger context, we are able to understand more comprehensively the many differences in cognitive processes, emotions and motivations between people.

To help understand, I analyzed a research data. The data included a sample of 478 whites from Oregon State Eugene and the city of Fierde, a total of four. The participants included 200 men and 281 women, aged 20-85 years old, covering all levels of education. Although the participants ' ethnic groups are not diverse, their IQ and personality ranges are wide. So from this sample, we can measure the relationship between IQ and personality in the general population. The IQ tests carried out by participants included 15 items, including knowledge reasoning and abstract reasoning, while the personality test part measured the 45 dimensions of personality.

In line with previous research results, IQ is the most relevant to empirical openness. Of the 9 dimensions of experience openness, there are 8 dimensions and IQ positive correlations, including intellectual input (intellectual engagement), intellectual creativity, mental acuity, intellectual ability, introspection, creativity, depth of thinking and imagination. Interestingly, IQ is more correlated with intellectual input and mental acuity than with imagination, creativity, or depth of intelligence. In addition, IQ has nothing to do with sensitivity to beauty.

In the 45 dimensions of the measurement, in addition to the sensitivity to beauty, there are 23 dimensions that are not related to IQ. This includes gregarious, friendly, confident, easygoing, talkative, social understanding, passion, kindness, empathy, cooperation, compassion, conscientiousness, efficiency, obedience, purpose, prudence, rationality, perfectionism, calmness, impulse control, calmness, composure, and peace; In addition to the 8 dimensions of experience openness, there are 8 Dimensions are positively correlated with IQ, including organizational, strong, provocative, leadership, self-disclosure, emotional stability, moderation, and happiness, but the correlation between these 8 dimensions and IQ is significantly weaker than intellectual input and mental acuity. In addition, IQ is negatively correlated with rationality, moral sense, helpfulness, sensibility and social ability. However, this negative correlation is also significantly weaker than the positive correlation between intellectual input and mental acuity and IQ.

Personality dimensions that are positively correlated with IQ (16) Intellectual input, intellectual creation, mental acuity, intellectual ability, introspection, creativity, depth of thinking, imagination, organization, toughness, provocation, leadership, self-disclosure, emotional stability, moderation, and happiness
Personality dimensions not related to IQ (24) Gregarious, friendly, confident, easygoing, talkative, social understanding, passion, kindness, empathy, cooperation, compassion, conscientiousness, efficiency, obedience, purpose, prudence, rationality, perfectionism, calmness, impulse control, calmness, composure, sensitivity to beauty and peace
Personality dimensions associated with negative IQ (5) Organizational, ethical, helpful, emotional and social skills.

Of the 45 personality dimensions, a total of 16 dimensions were positively correlated with IQ, 24 were not correlated with IQ, and 5 were negatively correlated with IQ.

So from the above data, can we see whether IQ is the personality of the puzzle? In addition to the above study, there are a lot of studies on the history of struggle, the most closely related personality traits is the experience of openness, especially in which can reflect the spiritual experience of the heart of the impulse and the ability to consciously explore those dimensions. This conclusion is important to our understanding of personality, and the findings also tell us that we have a great difference in cognition, emotion, and motivation, in addition to IQ tests.
