Apple offers a little-known utility on MAC devices to help users analyze and diagnose WiFi connections, which is the Wireless diagnostics tool. We can open the wireless diagnostics by pressing the Option key and clicking on the WiFi icon in the menu bar, and enter the administrator name and password.
Wireless diagnostics can help MAC users detect some common WiFi connection problems, and monitor the WiFi connection to find out why intermittent connectivity failed and provide a diagnostic report to the user after the diagnostics have been completed, and the user can choose to send it to the Apple device.
By clicking on the "Continue" button, wireless diagnostics will test the WiFi connection of the base station or router, and then check the WiFi configuration settings.
If no problem is found, wireless diagnostics will prompt you that the WiFi connection appears to be working properly. Click Continue to view the summary screen. If the problem is intermittent, the user can also select the option to monitor the WiFi connection to further diagnose the connection.
In the Additional Information window, users can enter a description of the WiFi network or the location of the router. The information attached here will be stored in the log file.
Click "Continue" to view the router information screen. Users can enter information such as the brand, model, and firmware version used by the WiFi base station or router, which will also be stored in the log file.
Click "Continue" to see a summary of what the wireless diagnostics found. Summary provides a list of all the problems found and suggestions to fix them. Click the Profile button next to an item to see more information. Follow the steps recommended for each project and select Close when you are finished.
If the advice given in wireless diagnostics does not fix the WiFi connection problem, the user can choose to set the Mac to forget or remove the WiFi settings before the WiFi network, and then join the WiFi network again.
