What DM, PQ, and PM have to say

Speaking of PQ at, I should have heard of it even if I have never used it. powerquest partitionmagic is its full name, And the confusing word is Norton partitionmagic.

There are some comments circulating on the Internet, some of which are hard to understand and some do not understand. I have heard some false comments. For example, powerquest partitionmagic and Norton partitionmagic are two different software in the partition tool, however, one is from powerquest and the other is from Norton.

There are a lot of network errors. In the face of this situation, I feel that it is necessary to check.

Norton is a service system developed by Symantec. It includes Norton Antivirus Software (not Norton), data backup (famous ghost), and hard disk management (Norton partitionmagic ), however, Norton partitionmagic was not developed by Symantec itself, but acquired by powerquest in December 2003. (For details, click ).

Powerquest partitionmagic was developed by powerquest, so it was named powerquest partitionmagic (PQ). After being acquired by Symantec, Symantec integrated powerquest partitionmagic into its Norton System. Renamed Norton partitionmagic. Later, Norton partitionmagic was referred to as "PQ", which is a misconception because Norton partitionmagic does not contain the Q letter at all.

The latest version of Norton partitionmagic is 8.05 (build 1371). That is to say, it has not been updated for more than six years.

One of the powerquest partitionmagic I got shows that the version is 8.0 (build 1242) 2002-9-16.

This year and a half are not detailed, but it is certain that Norton has hardly updated the latest version of 8.05 since the acquisition of powerquest in to-5. It only symbolically produces one or two versions.

Therefore, for version 8.0 alone, there are two names, because the same version is version 8.0 and the interface is basically the same, it is easy to confuse. Users do not need to be differentiated.

Powerquest partitionmagic and Norton partitionmagicMajor differences

For powerquest partitionmagic and Norton partitionmagic, the interface is almost the same, but there is a big difference between the two, especially for 8.05 (build 1371) and powerquest partitionmagic 8.0 (build 1242) the two versions were tested and found:

After the partitioning operation of powerquest partitionmagic is performed, the system will prompt you to restart. After the restart, the Windows interface will display a blue screen with an English prompt indicating that the partition is in progress. After the partition is complete, go to Windows.Restart to execute the BAT file for partitioning.

After running the "application" in Norton partitionmagic, a progress bar will be displayed immediately. After the execution is completed, open the resource manager and you will see that the partition has been split,No need to restart.

The advantage of not restarting is that unpredictable physical factors (power failure, forced restart, etc.) may occur during the restart process, resulting in data loss.

I used powerquest partitionmagic because I was not familiar with it. After a blue screen is restarted, I am afraid that the hard disk will be damaged. I am forced to restart the computer, which will eventually cause data loss, now I hate my ignorance.

I have heard that PQ can be partitioned without restarting. In actual Mountain, not all versions of PQ do not need to be restarted. It is acceptable for Norton partitionmagic of the ultimate version 8.0, but some need to be restarted. So I would like to tell you that you should carefully select the PQ version, which is also the reason why I am tired of correcting the various mistakes of PQ. I am also suffering from it.Select the Norton partitionmagic version (click to download ).

About pm

Since powerquest partitionmagic and Norton partitionmagic are easy to confuse, some people will refer to them as PM for unification and take them from the second half of partitionmagic. However, we found that the company paragon also has a partition software called paragon Partition Manager, which can also be called PM. In fact, PM is only a general term of the partition software, and its root cause is the English Partition Manager.

Then the results are powerquest partitionmagic and Norton partitionmagic collectively referred to as PQ, saying that PM only refers to Paragon Partition Manager, thus separating the software of each partition. Therefore, PQ is short for the head powerquest company, while PM is not short for the paragon company, but the half-end part of the partition manager. Although it has no characteristics, it is barely separated from PQ.

However, the domain name on the Internet is still messy, but the interface can be clearly identified. What's more, partitionmagic is PQ, and version 9.0 is definitely not PQ. Currently, many downloads of PQ on the Internet are calling,

For example: http://www.9669.com/soft/1/16/13583.html the partition software is version 8.0 of PQ, but not pm.

In addition, the parameter partitionmagic is not the alias of powerquest partitionmagic, but a unified product version, just as Adobe Flash cs5 is not the alias of Macromedia falsh 8, in addition, PM refers to another partition software developed by another company.
