If you are unable to connect to the wireless network, first try to update the driver for the wireless device. See Win8 How to find a hardware driver.
Make sure your wireless router is set up correctly. See the instructions for setting up your wireless router.
If you still cannot connect, make sure that the wireless connection is turned on:
1. At the start screen, click the Control Panel.
2. In the left pane, click Wireless.
3. In the right pane, make sure that flight mode is turned off and that the wireless device is turned on.
4. Slide in from the right or point the mouse at the lower right or upper right corner of the screen to open the "Settings" personality category.
5. Tap or click the Network connection icon, which resembles a monitor with a network cable (for a wired connection) or a collection of five bars (for wireless connections).
6. Under the list of wireless networks, select your network and enter the required login or credential information to connect to the network.
