What is resolution?

The so-called "resolution" refers to the number of pixels in the unit length or retrieved.

Resolution is the same as that of pixels. The most common one is the image resolution. The maximum resolution of a digital camera output photo is the image resolution, in the unit of pixel per inch ). Print resolution is also a common one. As the name suggests, it is the output resolution of a printer or printing device, in DPI (DOT per inch ). The display resolution is the size of the Windows desktop. Common settings include 640x480, 800x600, and 1024x768. Screen font resolution: the PC font resolution is 96 DPI, and the Mac font resolution is 72 dpi. Of course, there will be resolutions of other output devices. Due to the wide variety of output devices, we will not detail them here.
Relationship between image resolution and pixels
In most digital cameras, we can choose different resolutions to take pictures. The higher the pixel of a digital camera, the higher the resolution of the image. The resolution has a direct relationship with the pixels of an image. For an image with a resolution of 640x480, the product of the resolution reaches 307,200 pixels, which we often call 0.3 million pixels, for an image with a resolution of 1600x1200, its pixel is 2 million. In this way, we know that the resolution represents the number of points that the image occupies in length and width.
Therefore, the higher the pixel, the higher the resolution of the maximum output image. The larger the Resolution, the larger the image area.
Relationship between print resolution and pixels
The print resolution is related to the size of the printed photo, so it is also important. The calculation method is actually quite simple: A 8 million-pixel digital camera with a valid pixel of 7.95 million and a maximum output of 3260x2440 photos:
Width: 3260 (pixels) pushed 300 (DPI) = 10.8"
Height: 2440 (pixels) pushed 300 (DPI) = 8.1"
That is to say, if a 10.8 DPI output resolution is used to print a photo, a maximum of 8 inch × photos can be printed.
(Note: The maximum resolution that can be distinguished by human eyes is 300 dpi. Beyond this resolution, human eyes cannot see the difference. That is to say, there is no difference between DPI and DPI, therefore, the maximum design output resolution of the current printing equipment is 300 dpi. Of course, the definition requirements are different for everyone. Generally, DPI can satisfy most people, therefore, even if a 8 million pixel image is printed to a 16-inch image, it is still clear to most people .)
Conclusion: As mentioned above, the "Print size" has a great relationship with the image resolution. As long as the image resolution changes, the print size will change, pixel and image resolution are directly related, so the three can be converted to each other, and the most fundamental is pixel.
