What is WCDMA

WCDMA is the abbreviation of "Wideband CDMA", which is translated into wideband coding and multiplexing transmission technology.

WCDMA, as an important basic technology of TMT2000, will be the standard of the third generation wireless communication system.

WCDMA is a third generation mobile communication system, which is developed by 3GPP, based on the GSM map core network and Utran (UMTS terrestrial Wireless access network) as the wireless interface. Currently, WCDMA has releases 99, 4, Release 5, version 6, and so on.

The WCDMA adopts the direct sequence spread spectrum code Division multiple Access (DS-CDMA), Frequency Division Duplex (FDD) mode, the chip rate is 3.84MCPS, and the carrier bandwidth is 5MHz. Based on release 99/release 4, the maximum 384kbps user data transfer rate can be provided within 5MHz of bandwidth.
