The ARM version and the x86 version of Windows 8 experience are different, as Microsoft has made clear. So what's the difference between the arm version and the x86 version of Windows 8? The Windows 8 ARM device will use Texas instrumentation, Qualcomm and Nvidia processors, and the main Windows operating system will support the ARM architecture chip for the first time. Steven Sinofsky, Microsoft's Windows President, said that Microsoft would also publish both the arm and x86 versions of Windows 8,arm architecture, which would run desktop version of Office 15 Steven Sinnowski. However, the following major differences exist between the two versions of Windows 8:
· The ARM version of Windows 8 (WOA) does not support the ability of Windows 7:windows 8 to run on older Windows 7 PCs because the x86 platform is largely standardized and arm is not. Sinofsky said: "Arm is licensed arm product design, but not standardized." "If users want to run existing x86 software, they need a x86 device."
· WOA does not support virtualization or emulation: The ARM version of Windows 8 will not support any type of virtualization or emulation and cannot migrate or run existing X86/64 applications. Because supporting different forms of emulation violates Microsoft's release of a product target with high reliability and predictability, virtualization or simulation software consumes system resources, including battery duration and CPU.
· ARM's uniqueness: equipment manufacturers and arm partners to create the device and specific software strictly match, consumers buy arm devices can be a single access to services and upgrades. This differs from standardized x86 devices. In this view, the arm version of Windows and x86 version of Windows is completely different.
• Add tags to avoid confusion: when consumers buy the arm version of Windows PC, there will be a clear annotation to avoid confusion with the x86 version of Windows 8. PCS pre-installed with arm windows will be pre-installed with all drivers and support software. WOA will not be distributed as an independent software. As a result, users need not worry about whether WOA supports a particular PC.
· The WOA device does not shut down: Sinofsky says the user does not have to turn off the Woa PC. The WOA PC does not have the traditional hibernate mode, but is always running in a connected standby state, similar to the current mobile device usage mode.
· Office 15:WOA includes Office 15 applications for new desktop versions of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote, which support touch, minimize energy consumption and resource consumption, but also provide complete file compatibility. WOA supports the Windows Desktop Experience, which includes file Explorerhe and IE10.
