What is the future of HTML5 and GIS integration? -

0 reply content: first of all, thank you for your invitation. Let me talk about it:
1. A significant new feature of HTML5 is that the browser supports GPU acceleration. At this point, many GIS functions that cannot be solved under HTML4 but can only be implemented by C/S, for example, a very popular GIS 3D application can be used for some small and medium-sized scenarios. In addition, Canvas will accelerate the drawing speed, making it easier for developers to draw Complex Images and increase the number of drawing.
2. The addition of Geolocation factors can be located through browsers, speeding up the pace of GIS expansion to the popular field. With location information, some ideas of GIS will soon expand in the Internet field.
3. HTML5 supports online collaboration. Some GIS applications in emergency response require collaborative operations from multiple parties. HTML5 WebSocket supports two-way transmission of HTTP protocol. This may also be an application.
4. HTML5 supports file APIs. This allows you to move some simple spatial analysis to the client.
5. offline storage supports downloading images to the client through offline storage. On the one hand, images can be accessed offline.
The above are some of my ideas on application points. Some of them may not be mature yet, but there must be no practical application DEMO. I personally feel that all of the latest HTML5 features have the greatest impact on GIS: 2D rendering of Canvas and WebGL rendering, and IE11 already supports WebGL. The latest mainstream browsers support WebGL, moving Google Earth to the Web has been realized. This is the most cool. In general, the current situation shows that the future of applying gis systems lies in the future of webgis in html5. esri is a giant in the industry, the support for flex and Silverlight has been stopped, and the rest can only be js and html5. In fact, many of the current solutions are to migrate GIS functions and applications from the desktop version (form) migrate to the webpage (down to the mobile end), from JS (originally Google's AJAX) to RIA (FLEX, SILVERLIGHT )...... The service end mainly uses service gis (cloud gis), and the client uses the RIA or mobile API! It seems like javascript is getting on fire. Many spatial data visualization projects are now made on webpages.
