What is the relationship between VR and AR? What is the difference?

Augmented reality technology was developed from virtual reality technology and was first used in military affairs. This year, due to the popularity of smartphones, the rise of smart hardware, and the emergence of Google Glass, augmented reality technology has received a lot of attention. Currently, I am optimistic about augmented reality technology.

1. Virtual Reality (VR)

Virtual reality technology uses computers to create a virtual space. Using virtual reality glasses, users can be completely immersed in a virtual synthesis environment and cannot see the real environment. Using the binocular vision principle, the virtual world is 3D in glasses.
1. VR helmet: Oculus, a well-known company acquired by Facebook, can present virtual scenes built by software such as Unity, they also immerse users in roller coasters, playing games, watching movies, and so on in the virtual world.

In the future, virtual reality will not only involve vision and hearing, but also the sense of smell, touch, taste, and construct a world similar to the real environment.

II. Current Augmented Reality (AR)

Augmented reality technology can combine virtual information (objects, images, videos, sounds, and so on) in a real environment to enrich the real world and build a more comprehensive and beautiful world. At the beginning of Google Glass, augmented reality glasses began to appear, but they are still basic products. These glasses can present some simple auxiliary information to users, but there is nothing to do with complicated information.
1. Single-lens glasses: Google Glass, single-eye display information, navigation, SMS, phone, video and other functions, because it is single-eye, it cannot present 3D effects, and due to appearance reasons, the application scenarios are limited.
2. Binocular glasses: Meta Glass. When both eyes present images, binocular parallax can be used to produce the 3D effects developers want. By detecting and supplementing information in real-world scenarios, the wearer will obtain information that the real world cannot quickly obtain. Moreover, because of the more natural interaction methods, these virtual items are more authentic.

III. Augmented reality in the future

In the future, the glasses or contact lenses we wear will change our communication equipment, office equipment, entertainment equipment, and so on. In the future, we no longer need computers, mobile phones, and other entities, you only need to project the screen image in your eyes to create a suspended screen and a 3D operation interface. In the future, the boundaries of human eyes will be opened again, the boundary of both hands will be broken again. Friends thousands of kilometers away can immediately appear in front of you and talk to you face to face. You will also touch any objects in the illusory world. In the future, as soon as you wave your hand, you can completely immerse yourself in another virtual world, a cup of tea, a sea, and even thousands of possibilities that the other life and the real world cannot reach.

Simply and rudely, there is no realistic picture in the scenario you observe through the device, either augmented reality or virtual reality.
To put it bluntly, you can see if you have enabled a camera. If you have enabled the camera, it means augmented reality. If you have not enabled it, it means virtual reality.
