At Google, I've worked with the best product managers I've ever seen, and I've come up with a list based on my experience. Since I am not a project manager, these conclusions are the result of my observation of the best product manager at Google.
1. Responsible for the product and all related issues . This will make you proactive, you are the first person to find a bug, the first person to communicate with the user, and the first person to worry about the product being qualified. Why does this page appear very slowly? Large architectural changes will have an impact on the product, and every engineer on the team will be very attached to it, and so should you. If you're in charge of the project and they want to know something specific, you should be able to explain some of the major engineering decisions and the pros and cons. 4. Be positive and be more positive . Your team is likely to be composed entirely of engineers, and some of them may be very cynical. Compliment other people on the team, you and technical leaders are already the main contacts of the project, so don't make any recommendations. If you use others ' hard work for your own appreciation, you are not only wrong but not successful. Be broad-minded. Whether you are writing a project blog or a lunch video conference for product features, the best product managers should recommend other members of the team. Look at Google's best product blogs and you'll find that the authors of these blogs are not always the product managers, but the members of the team.
