When you open an attachment in Outlook or download an attachment, a pop-up message prompts: The attachment cannot be saved. Unable to create file: * * *. Right-click the folder where you want to create the file, and then click Properties on the shortcut menu to check the permissions on the folder. OR hint: Cannot create file:file name. Right-click the folder you want to create the "file in" and click Properties on the shortcut menu to check your permissions for the folder.

1, the following is the solution for Outlook 2003.
2, click "My Computer", and then double-click "Drive C".
3, on the File menu, click New, and then click Folder.
4, name the folder as Temp0.
5, click Start, click Run, enter regedit, and then click OK.
6. Locate and click the following registry key: Hkey_current_usersoftwaremicrosoftoffice11.0outlooksecurity
7, in the right pane, double-click "OutlookSecureTempFolder".
8, in the Value data field, enter C:temp0, and then click OK.
9, exit Registry Editor.
