One of the most popular topics in the past two days is that Microsoft's Windows XP Service Pack 3 has entered the RTM stage and will soon be released. In fact, the XP SP3 RTM version has been leaked. In retrospect, since the first appearance of the SP3 message, many computer users have been paying attention to this SP3. As Microsoft gradually releases various SP3 test versions, many domestic and foreign users have tested it, and the results show that the SP3 performance has improved significantly.

I do not know whether it is because I am not used to Vista or other reasons. A large number of users expect SP3 much higher than Vista SP1. What's more, after XP SP3 is released, it will be switched back to XP SP3 from Vista.

Is the upgrade of XP SP3 so significant? Let's take a look at some of Microsoft's official statements: XP SP3 includes all Windows XP upgrade patches (excluding IE7) and a few new features. However, installing SP3 does not significantly change the user experience of Windows XP. You should not expect SP3 to bring some features of Vista to Windows XP.

New Features of XP SP3:
· Black hole routing Detection
· Network access protection (NAP)
· More detailed security options Interface
· Enhanced administrator security and service policy portal
· Kernel Mode encryption module
· Windows product activation mode change: when installing Windows XP integrated with SP3, you can choose not to enter the serial number for installation, and then enter the serial number for activation later

Obviously, Microsoft released SP3 to further improve the security of XP, which is difficult for common users to understand. According to some foreign evaluation data, the performance improvement of SP3 mainly includes the startup speed, file transmission speed, network access speed, and Office component running speed.

However, according to some feedback from the Internet, there are various voices. Some people say that it is faster to start and the network access is smoother. Some people may report that SP3 is slower, or some programs run abnormally. Since each person's computer has different configurations and installed program software, the opposite conclusion is also reasonable.

As a user, do you need to upgrade SP3 immediately? I personally think it can be divided into the following situations:

· Users who like to test various types of new software do not have to hesitate to download SP3 immediately.

· A computer that rarely updates patches or installs new systems. Since SP3 integrates various system patches of XP so far, it is of great value to them, this is much easier than updating patches one by one.

· For general users, especially office-based computers, if your computer security work is well done, system patches will be promptly installed and SP2 will be quite handy, so you might as well wait a moment (since SP3 is closer to a large patch collection, there are not many new things) to see how other users feel after updating before making a decision.
