Timely updating is an effective measure to ensure the normal operation of the system. But why when we go into the " Control Panel, Windows Update, when you manually modify the settings for Windows Update, the system pops up and prompts, " Some settings are managed by your system administrator"?
Normally, only users who join the domain will experience this prompt.
If it is an individual user and has not been added to the domain, this prompt should be the relevant setting or the permission has been modified.
In this case, we can try the following two ways to solve this problem:
Method One: For professional version and above version of the system, you can fix the reorganization strategy to solve the problem
- In the Start search box , type gpedit.msc, enter, and open the Group Policy Editor.
If the User Account Control window pops up, please allow to continue.
- Navigate to the following location: User Configuration- Administrative Templates-Windows Components-Windows Update
Verify that the policy on Windows Update is not configured, and if not, change it to not configured.
In the same vein, navigate to the Computer Configuration- Administrative Templates-Windows Components-Windows Update and confirm that the policy on Windows Update is in an not configured state.
Method Two: If you use the home version of the operating system, you can modify the registry slightly
- Press "Alt+r" on the keyboard tobring up the Run Command box, type regedit.exe, enter, and open Registry Editor.

Small Easy tip:
Because incorrect registry modifications can cause serious problems, it is a good idea to make a backup before you modify it. This way, if the problem is not resolved, we can also restore the registry.
Now, we first back up the registry key value WindowsUpdate. Right -click WindowsUpdate and select Export.
The file name you can enter, such as windowsupdate. The file type defaults to " registration file (*reg)" Do not change, save location Select " desktop" on the line.
(If you need to restore the registry later, you can find this file on the desktop by double-clicking Import)
- After the backup is complete, we can then boldly modify the registry.
Still check the key value windowsupdate, right click, select " delete".
When the confirmation window pops up, press " yes" to continue.
- Finally, quit Registry Editor.
Go back to Windows Update, Control Panel, and try to change the settings for Windows Update, which is now free to set.
