Why does it take 1 MB to create a small file through the CIFS shared folder in iomega storage?

Tags ftp protocol

Fault symptom:

When the Iomega device provides the CIFS sharing service, you can create a small file smaller than 1 MB in the CIFS shared folder or modify the original small file in the shared folder, in the iomega system, this file occupies 1 MB of space. In the case of millions or even tens of millions of small files, the user space will be wasted.

Solution:

This problem occurs because the CIFS sharing function of iomega is not fully supported in creating small files. To solve the problem, refer to the following methods:

1. Create a small file on another device and copy it to the CIFS shared folder of iomega.

2. Change the transmission protocol using the iomega device. The problem does not exist through the nfs or ftp protocol.

3. Package a large number of small files into one or more files larger than 1 MB and store them together.
