Why is it difficult to implement pure scrum in China-Scrum and Architecture Design
@ Wu Qiong Adam
(After the first release, some people said they did not like this method in both Chinese and English. I personally think this method is the most helpful way for everyone to understand the original scrum. Therefore, I will stick to this method, if you do not like it, Please bypass it)
Another reason why scrum is difficult to implement in China is the neglect of the architecture. Next let's take a look at the activity in scrum, "The Time-boxes in scrum areRelease planning meeting, The sprint,Sprint planning meeting,Sprint Review,Sprint impact spective, AndDaily scrum."
Release planning meeting aims to "to establish a plan and goals that the scrum teams and the rest of the organizations can understand and communicate. "Basically, this is a target plan and has nothing to do with architecture design. In each Sprint's planning meeting, there are two parts: the first part clarifies the requirements and the second part designs, but the time is too short to carry the architecture design.
Strict copying of the scrum framework may also succeed in the product development process with a large number of ready-made frameworks applied, or in the maintenance phase of a product. However, for large-scale and complex product development, no architecture design is required, and the results are basically disastrous.
At present, the reality in China is basically design, with too few architectural designs, rather than too many, and scrum contributes to this contempt for design ethos. Of course, emphasizing architecture design does not necessarily mean writing thick architecture design documents, or complex UML modeling, and deciding on how to design the architecture and to what extent it should be done by the team.
To sum up, it is recommended that the team Add a release architecture design workshop after release planning meeting to implement scrum for architecture design. Of course, this workshop is the same as release planning meeting, it is also optional.
