Q: When installing IIS, you are prompted to "not find the Staxmem.dll file, insert the Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 installation CD". But put the disc, still prompted to find Staxmem.dll file, how to solve?

A: This failure occurs because the system's Group Policy database is corrupted, or when the Windows Components Installation Wizard installs the components and requires both Windows XP and Windows XP SP2 installation CDs (Note that this refers to the Windows XP Services Pack 2 of the upgrade installation CD-ROM). Run "esentutl/g%systemroot%securitydatabasesecedit.sdb" first to detect the integrity of the Secedit.sdb database and then resolve it according to the information that is returned.

1. Returns the information "This operation could find", which is corrupt (the current operation found that the database is corrupted). You will need to re-create the files for local Group Policy at this point, as follows.

(1) Create a folder oldsecurity under%systemroot%, and then cut all log files under%systemroot%security to the OldSecurity folder.

(2) Open%systemroot%securitydatabase and rename Secedit.sdb to Secedit.old

(3) Run "MMC" and select "File" → "Add/Remove Snap-in" in turn. Click the Add button, select Security Configuration and Analysis in the list, click add → close → ok button, and then create a console for security configuration and analysis. "

(4) Right-click Security Configuration and Analysis and select Open database.

(5) Navigate to%systemroot%security in the window, and then enter Secedit.sdb in the File name box, and click the Open button. (If the prompt access is denied, you can ignore it)

(6) Right-click Security Configuration and Analysis, select Import Template, and after you locate the Setup security.inf, click the Open button.

(7) Reboot the computer and try to install IIS. If you are still unable to install, complete the steps in 2.

2. Returns a message that the Group Policy database is not corrupted.

At this point we need to consolidate the Windows XP SP2 installation files into the Windows XP installation CD, as follows.

(1) Create a folder i386, such as "c:i386".

(2) Insert the Windows XP installation CD into the CD drive.

(3) Run "xcopy/e/i/v f:i386*.*/S C:i386" (this assumes that F disk is the optical drive)

(4) Remove the Windows XP installation CD from the CD drive and put it into the Windows XP SP2 installation CD.

(5) Run "f:xpsp2/integrate:c:i386".

(6) Attempt to install IIS. (when prompted to navigate to the Windows XP installation file, enter "C:" and press ENTER.) )
