Wi-Fi Alliance: Wireless direct connection without a router

Presumably, many people have had the idea of directly connecting two computers through the existing Wi-Fi protocol, but the interface is not friendly enough, the content to be set to achieve this goal is too cumbersome. Of course, selecting Bluetooth for wireless direct connection is also a good solution. However, the transmission distance and transmission rate of Bluetooth cannot meet all requirements.

Wi-Fi Alliance recently announced that they will soon launch a new wireless technology standard Wi-Fi Direct connection ), this standard allows devices in a wireless network to connect to each other without using a wireless router. Similar to Bluetooth technology, this standard allows wireless devices to connect to each other in point-to-point mode, but improves transmission speed and distance compared with Bluetooth. In addition, it is said that existing WiFi wireless devices can be upgraded using software to support this technology.

The effective transmission interval supported by this technology is 100 m. In addition, the standard also contains the WPA2 security management function. Therefore, the application of this technology in the enterprise environment will be guaranteed in terms of security.

According to the Wi-Fi Alliance, once this standard is finalized, they will officially launch it, next year, they will begin to provide certification services for Wi-Fi devices that support standard direct connection.
