Wiki Grammar Encyclopedia
Editing a wiki page is easy. Just click on "edit this page" or the [edit] link on the right to modify the page, or click on "Discussion page" and then click "Edit Page" to discuss the page. After clicking, you will see an editable text area that contains the wiki page.
It's often easier to copy text to your favorite text editor, edit and check it, and then post it back to your browser preview. This makes it easy for you to use your backup file to make changes after disconnection.
Editorial Essentials
-
Start editing
To
-
start editing on a MediaWiki page, you can edit the page by simply clicking on "edit this page" or the "edit" link on the side. This will take you to the edit page: a text box. You need to fill in the wiki text so that the server generates the page you expect.
-
Make an editorial summary
-
you should write a short edit summary after the edit is complete. You can use some abbreviations to keep them as brief as possible, but let others know your intentions.
-
Preview first, then save
-
when you're done, press the preview key to see how your work looks-before you make a permanent change. Do not save until you are satisfied with the results of the preview. You may find many errors and typos during the preview process, and you will have the opportunity to modify instead of leaving a permanent error.
