Friends with two hard drives are more and more commonly used as a system master disk and another piece to store files from disk. If you are using Windows 7, you will often hear the hard drive stop and start sound, for example, when the computer is turned off, the system will automatically start from the disk (if previously stopped).
In fact, this is an automatic power saving feature provided by Windows 7 that, by default, Windows 7 automatically shuts down the hard disk if it is not read or written from the disk for a period of time, and then starts the disk again when read and write. So frequent shutdown startup, although not to the hard disk life will cause too much damage, but the start, stop the sound is not very comfortable
We can easily turn off this awkward feature. From the control Panel to the hardware and sound rarr; Power Options window, select the power plan currently in use, click the Change Plan Settings button on the single hit side, enter the Edit Plan Settings window, select Change advanced power settings, expand the hard drive, and see that the default setting is to turn off the hard drive after 20 minutes We can reset it, or simply set it to never, and it will take effect after confirmation.
Of course, if you're using Vista, you can do it the same way.
