Enable the Telnet client component to prepare for Ping ports
- Under Program interface, select "Turn Windows features on or off" as shown in:
- In the dialog box that opens, locate the Telnet client and tick. Finally click "OK", wait a few minutes, the system will open the Telnet client service for you, as shown in:
Ways to Ping ports with the Telnet command
Enter the Telnet test port command: "telnet IP port or telnet domain name port" and enter as shown:
If the port is closed or cannot be connected, a link to the host cannot be opened, and the window prompts: The connection failed, as shown in:
If the port is open, the link succeeds and then goes to the Telnet page (All Black), proving that the port is available, as shown in:
There are other common commands for Telnet:
Open: Use Openhostname to establish a Telnet connection to the host.
Close: Use the command Close command to close an existing Telnet connection.
Display: Use the display command to view the current settings of the Telnet client.
Send: Use the Send command to send commands to the Telnet server. The following commands are supported:
AO: Discards the output command.
Ayt: "Is You There" command.
ESC: Sends the current escape character.
IP: Interrupt process command.
Synch: Performs a Telnet synchronization operation.
BRK: Sends a signal.
Quit: Use the QUIT command to exit the Telnet client.
