Introduction to Hyper-V

Hyper-V is a Microsoft virtual machine product, deployed in the win 8.x 64-bit Pro version, and Windows 2008 above the server's version, its function is similar to VMware and VirtualBox virtual machine software. Because Hyper-V is Microsoft's own software, support for Windows is the best. It is convenient for people who need to use different operating systems frequently. It allows you to run multiple operating systems at the same time on a single PC, you don't need to reboot the system, you can open a new operating system or switch between operating systems by clicking the mouse, and you can use a machine as multiple units, Do not violate each other. Do Web development friends often in different versions of IE browser test page compatibility, using Hyper-V can be installed in a machine n operating systems, respectively, the installation of different IE version of the test page, than with the IETester tool more accurate.

 Install Hyper-V

Take Windows Server 2008 R2 for example. Control Panel = "Management tools =" Double-click to open Server Management = "

In the console tree on the left, select "Role" = right mouse button and choose "Add role ="

Popup "Add role Wizard" window = "click Next ="

Select Hyper-V role = "click Next ="

Click Next = "

Select Network Adapter = "Click Next ="

Click "Install". Start the installation progress.

When the installation progress is complete, click the "Close" button. Prompt must reboot to complete installation, click "Yes" and reboot.

To create a virtual machine

Control Panel = "management tool =" Open Hyper-V Manager = "menu =" Action = "new =" virtual machine ...

Eject the New Virtual Machine wizard window and click Next.

Specifies the name and storage location of the virtual machine. Here we intend to install XP system, named "XP virtual Machine (1)", click Next.

Specifies the amount of memory allocated to the virtual machine. If you install the XP system, 512m-1g enough. Click Next.

Configure the network for the virtual machine, although the previous Hyper-V feature has been selected, but the system defaults to the "Disconnected" location, or you have to choose one OH. On the right side of the connection, click on the dropdown triangle and select Local connection. Click Next.

Set the virtual machine hard drive, the system default is 127G, install XP, I think 10G is enough. Click Next.

Here choose to install the mirror ISO file, what system to install the choice of what mirror. Click Next.

Finally, this shows the virtual machine summary information, look at, no problem on the point of completion, began the creation of the virtual machine.

When you are finished, return to Hyper-V Manager, double-click or right-click the virtual machine you just created.

A black virtual machine window pops up, at which point you can turn on the virtual machine by clicking on the screen, or by pressing the "boot" button under "File", and then opening your Hyper-V tour.

Install Hyper-V Integration Services

For Windows XP and Windows Server 2003, which appear before virtualization, we need to install Hyper-V Integration Services for them to better run in a virtual environment. Some Windows operating systems (Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2, and Windows Server 2012) have built-in integration services. However, it is still a good idea to deploy Hyper-V Integration Services to virtual machines. Microsoft will upgrade the Integration services on a regular basis, so the integrated service version provided by Hyper-V is likely to be higher than the customer operating system itself.

Here we connect and start the XP virtual machine We just created, select "Operation" => "Insert integrated Service installation Disk" on the console. After startup, you will find that the virtual speed is very fast, the mouse can also be free access to the screen can also be used and so on

Tip: If you are creating a virtual machine that is a Windows XP, Windows Server 2003 older system, you can use the virtual machine to properly surf the web only if you have the Hyper-V integration service installed. If you do not want to install the Hyper-V integration service and want the virtual machine to surf the Internet, you should create a "legacy network adapter." In general, we install Hyper-V Integration Services for ease of use. In addition, unfortunately the Hyper-V virtual machine defaults to only 16-bit color, if you do not want to install Hyper-V Integration Services, the virtual machine can be 32-bit color.

File exchange between host and virtual machine

When using a virtual machine, the problem that often faces is the exchange of files between the host and the virtual machines. For security reasons, Microsoft has completely isolated physical and virtual machines. Does not support the direct drag-and-drop transmission of files and other means. Here, we will introduce 3 kinds of File Exchange methods: LAN file sharing, Remote Desktop Connection, virtual disk sharing;

  1. Lan file sharing

Set the IP of the virtual machine to be on the same network segment as the host. For example, host IP for 192.168.1.2 virtual machine IP for 192.168.1.10

Set a directory in the virtual machine to be shared and give the appropriate permissions. The host can access the shared directory by entering "\\192.168.1.10" in the address bar of the resource manager.

  2. Remote Desktop Connection

First, the remote access feature of the virtual machine is turned on. Enter the virtual machine system, as an example of XP. Right-click My Computer = Select Properties to eject the System Properties dialog box = "Click the remote tab =" and then check "allow users to connect remotely to this computer." You can also click "Select Remote User" to specify which users can connect remotely.

The host side then opens the Remote Desktop Connection program, enters the IP or machine name of the virtual machine, and prepares to log on to the virtual machine system remotely.

Click "Options" = "Click on the Local Resources tab"

Click "Details ..." to select the native drive that you want to use on the remote computer. Select E,f Disk Here

Pop-up Security prompt dialog box, click "Connect"

In the Remote desktop computer "My Computer" can find the disk on our local computer, click to go to browse, and can also copy files from the inside to the Remote desktop computer.

Remote Desktop copy files directly to the remote machine

Open Task Manager on the remote machine, view the process, and have the rdpclip.exe process. Typically, you can copy and paste files between a native and a remote server as long as the process exists. Windows 7 and later the system is valid.

  Remote Desktop color bit settings

Remote connection to the system, by default is 16-bit color. You can adjust to 24-bit or 32-bit color with the following settings. Older systems such as Windows xp/2003 support a maximum of 24-bit colors, and Windows 7 systems support 32-bit colors.

Take XP For example:

Click start = "Run input gpedit.msc enter to open Group Policy Editor. Local Computer Policy = "Computer Configuration =" Admin template = "Windows component =" Terminal Services = "Limit the maximum color depth, double-click settings =" Select Enabled, select 24 bits in the color depth drop-down list.

Take Windows 7 For example

Click start = "Run input gpedit.msc enter to open Group Policy Editor. Local Computer Policy = "Computer Configuration =" Administrative Templates = "Windows components =" Remote Desktop Services = "Remote Desktop Session Host =" Remote session environment = "Limit maximum color depth, double-click settings =" Select Enabled, select 32 bits in the color depth drop-down list.

  3. Virtual Disk sharing

By creating a new virtual hard disk (VHD), the file is copied to the virtual hard disk and finally attached to the virtual machine. A virtual hard disk can be used for multiple virtual machines. Only one virtual machine can use this file at the same time.
