1.1 Installing KB950050 and KB951636 patches
To enable the official version of Hyper-V functionality in Windows Server 2008, you need to install the KB950050 and KB951636 patches provided by Microsoft. The Hyper-V provided in the Windows Server 2008 Official Edition CD is just a beta version. Installing KB950050 and KB951636 patches does not conflict with enabling Hyper-V functionality, and if you have enabled the Hyper-V feature before you install the patch, the Hyper-V feature will be upgraded to the official version after the patch is updated. If you first install the KB950050 and KB951636 patches, you will add a formal version of Hyper-V when you add the Hyper-V role. This article describes how to enable Hyper-V functionality in the order in which you first install the KB950050 and KB951636 patches, and then add the Hyper-V role.
