The quality management of disks in WIN2012R2 is a good feature that we have to say, storage quality of Service (QoS): Using storage QoS, you can manage the storage throughput of virtual hard disks accessed by virtual machines. With storage QoS, you can specify the maximum and minimum I/O load for each virtual disk in a virtual machine, in IOPS per second. Storage QoS ensures that the storage throughput of one virtual hard disk does not affect the performance of another virtual hard disk in the same host. This feature is not supported in the previous operating system.

First, create a virtual hard disk

1. Open Hyper-V Manager. Click "Settings" to open the Settings dialog, select "Add Hardware"--"SCSI controller", click "Add"

2, select the corresponding SCSI controller, select "Hard Drive" click "Add"

650) this.width=650; "Style=" background-image:none;margin:0px;padding-left:0px;padding-right:0px; border-top-width:0px;border-bottom-width:0px;border-left-width:0px;padding-top:0px; "title=" Wps193F.tmp "border= "0" alt= "wps193f.tmp" src= "http://s3.51cto.com/wyfs02/M01/9C/EA/wKioL1l37dnzUDg8AADu-tJmBhQ603.jpg" width= "596" height= "437"/>

3, set the corresponding SCSI controller location, and here we can use "browse" to select the hard disk, or "new" to add the hard disk, we create a new hard disk

650) this.width=650; "Style=" background-image:none;margin:0px;padding-left:0px;padding-right:0px; border-top-width:0px;border-bottom-width:0px;border-left-width:0px;padding-top:0px; "title=" Wps1940.tmp "border= "0" alt= "wps1940.tmp" src= "http://s3.51cto.com/wyfs02/M02/9C/EA/wKiom1l37dqxYKZwAAEMn1fR8Hc290.jpg" width= "596" height= "429"/>

4. Open the new Virtual Hard Disk Wizard and click "Next"

650) this.width=650; "Style=" background-image:none;margin:0px;padding-left:0px;padding-right:0px; border-top-width:0px;border-bottom-width:0px;border-left-width:0px;padding-top:0px; "title=" Wps1941.tmp "border= "0" alt= "wps1941.tmp" src= "http://s3.51cto.com/wyfs02/M02/9C/EA/wKiom1l37dvB_FfuAACLUenga28305.jpg" width= "596" height= "454"/>

5, there are three types of virtual disk, we choose "Dynamic Expansion", click "Next"

650) this.width=650; "Style=" background-image:none;margin:0px;padding-left:0px;padding-right:0px; border-top-width:0px;border-bottom-width:0px;border-left-width:0px;padding-top:0px; "title=" Wps1952.tmp "border= "0" alt= "wps1952.tmp" src= "http://s3.51cto.com/wyfs02/M00/9C/EA/wKiom1l37dyAtdGRAADaDk0zSqo959.jpg" width= "596" height= "411"/>

6. Set the disk location and disk name, click "Next"

650) this.width=650; "Style=" background-image:none;margin:0px;padding-left:0px;padding-right:0px; border-top-width:0px;border-bottom-width:0px;border-left-width:0px;padding-top:0px; "title=" Wps1953.tmp "border= "0" alt= "wps1953.tmp" src= "http://s3.51cto.com/wyfs02/M00/9C/EA/wKioL1l37d3RCvUsAACFbWP6PMQ792.jpg" width= "596" height= "421"/>

7. Set the disk size and click "Next"

650) this.width=650; "Style=" background-image:none;margin:0px;padding-left:0px;padding-right:0px; border-top-width:0px;border-bottom-width:0px;border-left-width:0px;padding-top:0px; "title=" Wps1964.tmp "border= "0" alt= "wps1964.tmp" src= "http://s3.51cto.com/wyfs02/M01/9C/EA/wKiom1l37d-TCEFrAAC3NrhTc6w159.jpg" width= "596" height= "445"/>

8, confirm the corresponding information, click "Done"

650) this.width=650; "Style=" background-image:none;margin:0px;padding-left:0px;padding-right:0px; border-top-width:0px;border-bottom-width:0px;border-left-width:0px;padding-top:0px; "title=" Wps1965.tmp "border= "0" alt= "wps1965.tmp" src= "http://s3.51cto.com/wyfs02/M01/9C/EA/wKioL1l37eCyx4WgAACW5uVoDIE368.jpg" width= "596" height= "413"/>

9, here we can see, we have a quality management of virtual hard disk, that is, the IOPS value management, control the number of IOPS this virtual server can use, this is a very good feature.

650) this.width=650; "Style=" background-image:none;padding-left:0px;padding-right:0px;border-top-width:0px; border-bottom-width:0px;border-left-width:0px;padding-top:0px; "title=" wps1966.tmp "border=" 0 "alt=" wps1966.tmp " Src= "Http://s3.51cto.com/wyfs02/M02/9C/EA/wKiom1l37eGzulqYAAEEQg3pGSQ813.jpg" width= "596" height= "435"/>

Second, additional physical disk

You can use a physical disk that is attached directly to a virtual machine as a storage option on the management operating system. This allows the virtual machine to access the storage directly mapped to the server running Hyper-V without having to first configure the volume. Storage can be a physical disk inside a server or a SAN logical unit number (LUN) mapped to a server (a LUN is a logical reference to a portion of a storage subsystem). The virtual machine must have exclusive access to the store, so you must set the store offline in Disk Management. This storage size is unlimited, so it can be a multi-terabyte LUN.

When using physical disks attached directly to a virtual machine, the following considerations apply:

? This type of disk cannot be dynamically expanded.

? cannot be used with differencing disks.

? The virtual hard disk snapshot could not be generated.

To configure a physical disk that is attached directly to a virtual machine

1. Map the storage devices you plan to use to the server running Hyper-V. In Disk Management, the store appears as the original volume and is offline.

2. To initialize the original volume, in Disk Management, right-click the disk that you want to initialize, and then click Initialize Disk. Note that the disk must be offline in order to initialize it.

3. In the Initialize Disk dialog box, select the disk that you want to initialize. You can choose whether to use the Master boot record (MBR) or the GUID partition table (GPT) partition form.

4. After you initialize the disk, return it to the offline state. If the disk is not offline, the disk is not available when the storage is configured for the virtual machine.

5. Open Hyper-V Manager

If you have not created a virtual machine where you want to attach a physical hard disk, create the virtual machine by using the New Virtual Machine Wizard in Hyper-V, and then selecting attach virtual Hard disk later on the Connect virtual hard disk page.

6. Under virtual machines in Hyper-V Manager, select the virtual machine where you want to attach the physical hard disk.

7. In the actions pane, under the name of the virtual machine, click Settings.

8. In the Navigation Pane (left pane), click the controller that you want to attach the disk to. If you plan to use the disk as a startup disk, be sure to attach it to the IDE controller. Click Add.

9. On the Hard drive page, select the location on the controller where you want to attach the disk.

10. Under "Media", specify the physical hard disk. If the disk is not displayed in the drop-down list under physical hard disk, make sure that the disk is offline in Disk Management.

11. After you configure the physical disk, you can start the virtual machine and store the data on disk. If you are installing an operating system, the installation process automatically prepares the disks to be used. If you use a physical disk to store data, you must first prepare the physical disk by the virtual machine.

12. If you are installing an operating system on a physical disk and the disk is online before the virtual machine starts, the virtual machine will fail to start. The virtual machine configuration file must be stored in an alternate location because the physical disk is required to install the operating system. For example, place the configuration file on a different internal drive on the server that is running Hyper-V.

Third, add iSCSI storage

From the guest operating system, you can connect directly to the iSCSI LUNs in the storage array. Direct connectivity using iSCSI provides the following advantages over other iSCSI LUN options:

? You can run the SAN management application transparently.

? Support for guest clusters.

? You can connect to an ISCSI LUN without shutting down and restarting the guest operating system.

? You can manage LUNs in the guest operating system in the same way that you manage LUNs in a physical environment.

? Support for VSS hardware snapshots in the guest operating system.

To configure ISCSI direct connections on a guest operating system that is running Windows Server 2008 or Windows Vista

1. In the Control Panel, double-click ISCSI Initiator.

2. Click the Discovery tab, and then click Add to enter the IP address or DNS name of the ISCSI target device.

3. Click the Destination tab, and then select the target device you want to connect to.

4. Click Sign In, and then, in the Log on to Target dialog box, configure the login parameters. When you are finished, click OK.

5. Turn on Computer Management, then bring the ISCSI disk online and create partitions on the new iSCSI LUN.

Note: If Encrypting File System (EFS) is used to encrypt. vhdx files, Hyper-V does not support using storage media. However, you can use files that are stored on volumes that are encrypted by using Windows BitLocker drives.

It's possible that some friends don't know what EFS encryption is, so let me put it briefly here. Select a file in the NTFS partition, click the right mouse button, select the "Properties" command, click on the "General" tab in the dialog box that appears, then click the "Advanced" button, in the dialog box that appears, select the "Encrypt content to protect data" option, click "OK" (also can be a disk).
