As we all know, in general, when we use virtualization, the most important thing is to store, so we will use fiber storage, and some companies will use iSCSI storage, but for sharing the way very little, here we say that the Windows Server 2012 SMB-based Hyper-V deployment under R2. You can use SMB 3.0 file shares as shared storage for Hyper-V in Windows Server 2012. With this new feature, Hyper-V can be used to store virtual machine files on SMB file sharing systems, including configuration, virtual hard disk (VHD) files, and snapshots. The following are the key benefits of storing application data on an SMB file sharing system for Hyper-V:

easy to set up and manage: You can manage file shares instead of storage structures and Logical unit numbers (LUNs).

High Flexibility: You can dynamically migrate virtual machines or databases in the datacenter.

ability to leverage existing investments in converged networks: You can use an existing converged network with no dedicated storage network hardware.

Lower capital expenditure: Reduce capital expenditure (acquisition cost).

reduce operational expenses: reduce operating costs because you don't need specialized storage expertise.

Note in Windows Server 2012, some hyper-V features depend on the use of SMB file shares, for example, certain types of dynamic migrations.

Required Conditions:

File and Storage Services server one (here we deploy the file server on the TESTSERVER02 server, and then change to the TESTSERVER03 server)

Two servers for the Hyper-V role (convenient for testing shared storage migrations)

AD Domain Server One

Operation Steps:

Step 1: Configure the file server cluster (here we only test one file server)

Step 2: Install Hyper-V (already installed)

Step 3: Create an SMB file share

Step 4: Create virtual machine and virtual hard disk files on the file share

Step 5: Migrate the virtual machine storage to the SMB file share system

Step 6: Initiate a dynamic migration of the virtual machine to another cluster node

Step 7: Move the virtual machine to another Hyper-V host, and then migrate the virtual machine storage

Network topology:

Note: In front of the test, did not pay attention to the Hyper-V SMB mode does not support the issue of loopback configuration, and later in the migration of the migration is not successful problem, for this serious review of the official documentation, found that: loopback configuration is not supported (the computer running Hyper-V as a file server for virtual machine storage). For this I configured TESTSERVER03 specifically used as a file server, the results of the test is normal, due to the TESTSERVER02 server, re-trouble, in this special note.

12, this time we see the corresponding TESTSERVER01 server, the same way to add TestServer02 server. Also need to explain, here is best in the DC inside a new computer group and user group, add the corresponding group here, to facilitate the subsequent management. So as not to cause unnecessary trouble.

16, we will test the corresponding shared access function is normal, the test can be accessed.

650) this.width=650; "title=" wps4e3c.tmp "style=" border-right-width:0px;background-image:none;border-bottom-width : 0px;padding-top:0px;padding-left:0px;margin:0px;padding-right:0px;border-top-width:0px; "border=" 0 "alt=" Wps4e3c.tmp "src=" http://s3.51cto.com/wyfs02/M01/00/70/wKiom1mblXOCuONjAACGA8WIv8w325.jpg "width=" 596 "height=" 451 "/>

17, before we have completed the configuration for the SMB, we need to configure the corresponding Hyper-V server settings, the same we need to do the same on TestServer01 and TestServer02. Here we set the virtual hard disk and the virtual machine's directory to the shared directory.

650) this.width=650; "title=" wps4e3d.tmp "style=" border-right-width:0px;background-image:none;border-bottom-width : 0px;padding-top:0px;padding-left:0px;margin:0px;padding-right:0px;border-top-width:0px; "border=" 0 "alt=" Wps4e3d.tmp "src=" http://s3.51cto.com/wyfs02/M00/00/70/wKiom1mblXXyd1hEAADcDz9qmTQ807.jpg "width=" 596 "height=" 564 "/>

18, complete the Hyper-V virtual machine and disk settings, we will add the corresponding virtual machine, click "New"

650) this.width=650; "title=" wps4e4d.tmp "style=" border-right-width:0px;background-image:none;border-bottom-width : 0px;padding-top:0px;padding-left:0px;margin:0px;padding-right:0px;border-top-width:0px; "border=" 0 "alt=" Wps4e4d.tmp "src=" http://s3.51cto.com/wyfs02/M01/9F/20/wKioL1mblW6TRm7yAAC91SwKenk660.jpg "width=" 597 "height=" 436 "/>
