Operating system: WIN7 64 flagship edition
Oracle version: 64-bit 11g
PowerDesigner Version: 11.1
Problem Description: Because PowerDesigner is a 32 program, the connection database will turn on 32-bit ODBC by default, so oracle11g drivers cannot be used
Workaround: Download and install the oracle11g client win32_11gr2_client.zip \ = Select the provider for the client connection to Oracle
Detailed steps:
1. Download oracle11g client Win32_11gr2_client.zip
Http://download. Oracle. com/otn/nt/oracle11g/112010/win32_11gr2_client.zip
(attempted to use Lite edition unsuccessful, so insurance with official full version of the client)
2, install Select Administrator mode, the installation version of 1.1G
3. Configure client TNS
After configuration, the ... Product\11.2.0\dbhome_1\network\adminlistener.ora and Tnsnames.ora are copied to the respective client ... product\11.2.0\ Under the Client_1\network\admin.
4. Open ODBC 32 version C:\Windows\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe, click Add, select Oracle in Oracleclient_home
(There are two because I installed two times, the first time the installation was wrong, please ignore)
5, configure the data source, enter the user name account, test the connection success
6, open the PowerDesigner, in the Database drop-down menu Select Click Connect, choose just with the ODBC is OK!
Summary: 64-bit system with oracel a bit of trouble, I used to install oracle11g service side, and then even PL/SQL is not even the reason, now used very well.
oracle11g Server +oracle11g Client +pl/sql Developer+powerdesigner, the environment is running stably! (Wyt: The method after adding the Internet is normal, my method is to use the client and the simple client coexist in a way imperfect)
Be careful when adding data sources. First of all to create a new data model, the establishment of a successful after the corresponding database menu can be selected to the corresponding menu below is some of my, showing a successful case, if the database connection is unsuccessful. So we're going to do the above or see if we can build a good net connection.
This completes the process of connecting to Oracle if you are connecting to SQL Server, it is important to note that heterogeneous databases cannot be placed under one project
The difference is in the picture below
The selected driver is different. The rest is pretty much the same. But I test the target data source has a problem, not normal access, so the result diagram I did not post it. You can test it yourself. Several documents are referenced here, respectively,
