Although the XP system is about to retire in less than 100 days, many office computers are still installed on the XP system. In an office environment, the problem of sharing printers is involved. The following small series for you to introduce the WIN7 system can not connect to the XP system shared printer solution.
When a Win7 system computer is used to connect to a printer attached to an XP system computer, there may be a "No connection to printer" issue. Because the machine that connects the printer is an XP system, only the printer driver under XP is installed, and the driver can only support the xp/200x system's machine-shared printing, not the vista/win7 system.
The first thing we need to do is confirm that the Print Spooler service is turned on.
1. Click on the Start menu, enter "Services.msc" in the search field (do not enter quotes), start the program in the search results. If you eject the User Account Control window at this point, please click "Continue".
2. Find and double-click the "Print Spooler" service in the right-hand list;
3. Click on the "General" tab to ensure that the "Startup type" is "Automatic" or "manual". Then click on the "Enable" button under "Service status".
4. Try connecting to the printer again
* If you are prompted that the Print Spooler service cannot start, your Print Spooler service may be compromised, please try step two
* If you are prompted to "Print Spooler started", but you still cannot connect to the printer, it may be that the printer driver is not installed in Win7, please try step three
Step two: We can try to rebuild the Print Spooler service by importing the lossless registry
1. First download Microsoft Official registry file, if you are a 32-bit system, please click 32-win7-spooler.re Download, if you are 64-bit system, please click 64-win7-spooler.re download Baidu network disk;
2. Select Rename to change the file suffix name from. Re to. reg;
3. Double-click Import, reboot the computer, and reconnect the printer.
Step Three: Install the printer driver for Vista/win 7
1. Click Start Control Panel printer;
2. Select "Add Printer";
3. Select "Add Local printer", click the Step;
4. Select "Create New Port" to select "Local Port", press Next, prompt input port name, enter the absolute path of shared printer, the format is: * * * (share printer's computer name or IP address) * * * (shared printer's share name), such as 192.168.25.71HplaserJ, as determined;
5. Choose your own network printer "manufacturer", "model", press the next step. (If the list does not, the official did not provide the corresponding Vista version of the driver download, please select the model in the list of similar replacement, generally can be, such as HP1010 select HP1015)
6. Add successfully, reconnect printer.
* If the machine that connects the printer is in the domain, or if the password requires authorization to access it, do the following before performing the add printer (otherwise, you may receive an "Unknown username and password" prompt):
1. Click to start the operation (you can press win+r shortcut at the same time)
2. Enter the computer name or IP address of the shared printer, such as 192.168.25.71
3. Fill in the account information in username and Password box, choose Save Password
