The first method: Save the utility
In the Security Warning dialog box, click Save.
When you open the Save As window, browse to the desktop, and then click Save.
When you are finished downloading, browse to the saved file, and then double-click the file to install the utility.
If the Security Warning dialog box is not open
1. Click "Run" in the notification bar to download the software.
2. Click Yes in the User Account Control window.
When the wizard finishes installing, the wizard opens automatically.
Step two: Run the HP Printer Setup Wizard
If the printer is not already started, press the power button to start it.
Use a USB cable to connect HP printers and computers (if you are not connected to a computer or network).
Please make sure the computer is connected to the Internet. The wizard must access the Internet to work properly.
Click Next to start the utility. The wizard displays a list of the printers that are detected.
If the wizard detects more than one printer, select your HP printer from the list.
If your printer is not displayed in the list, click Do not show my printer, and then follow the on-screen instructions.
The wizard automatically displays the available drivers that are most appropriate for your HP printer.
If a full-featured print program is available, the wizard detects it. Click Next to download and install the software. If complete functionality is required, HP recommends installing a fully functional driver if it is available. Full-featured drivers can provide complete printer functionality. HP (HP) also provides practical software to help you make the most of your printer.
If an operating system built-in (In-os) driver is available, the wizard will show that the driver is installed. In addition, it provides a link to help you learn more about the printer's use of the In-os driver. The In-os driver is the basic driver that comes with the operating system. You do not need to download or install any software from HP (HP).
If a Windows Update driver is available, the wizard will show that the driver is installed. In addition, it will provide a link to help you learn more about the use of Windows Update drivers. Windows Update searches for the latest printer driver on the Windows Update Web site.
If the driver on the Web site is newer than the driver in Windows, the computer downloads and installs the updated driver. Windows Update will automatically perform this operation.
Option two: Download and install software from HP website
Follow these steps to download and install the driver from the HP website.
Open the printer.
Disconnect the USB cable between the printer and the computer (if it is already connected). If the printer is connected to the network, remain connected.
Right-click this link: HP Customer Service Center, and then clicking Open in New window.
If you receive a prompt, type your printer model, click Next, and then click Driver.
Make sure the operating system is selected, and then click Next.
Scroll down the page, and then click Driver.
Click the Download button, and then follow the on-screen instructions to save the software to your computer.
Open the folder where the software files are located (usually in the Downloads folder), double-click the file, and then follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
Second method: Use the HP Printer Setup Wizard
If you purchase a printer before Windows 8 is released, your product may not have the latest printer driver attached to the CD. However, you can use the HP Printer Setup Wizard to easily find and download the latest printer drivers. The Printer Setup Wizard is a tool that can automatically find the best Windows 8 driver for your HP printer.
Note: The Printer Installation Wizard is not available for all HP printers, only for Windows 7 or Windows 8 operating systems.
The Printer Setup Wizard applies to printers connected to a USB connector or to a wired (Ethernet) or wireless network connection printer. If you want to connect to a printer wirelessly, but you are not connected to a wireless network, you need to temporarily connect to the printer by using a USB cable to run this wizard.
Follow these steps to download and install the HP Printer Setup wizard.
Step one: Download the HP Printer Setup Wizard
Click the following link: HP Printer setup Wizard.
Make sure your computer meets the system requirements, and then click Download.
