Last month Microsoft released a new Win8.1 operating system and offered a free upgrade to the App Store for Win8 retail users, but there were a number of users who were having trouble with the upgrade process, such as 0x80004005 error codes.
"When I try to upgrade the WIN8 Professional version to 8.1 through the store App Store, the ' Error 0x80004005 ' occurs when I get to the final step of ' preparing for reboot ' and then the installation is canceled automatically," a user said in an official Microsoft forum. There was no information to explain why the reboot was not performed, and I tried it several times. "There are also users who say that even the new installation Win8, all patches, and then download Windows 8.1 through the Windows Store store, will continue to experience the same situation when upgrading."
Unfortunately, Microsoft has not yet provided an official solution, and if you are unlucky to encounter the problem, you can refer to the following two temporary solutions:
Project one: Refer to Microsoft's KB843499 technical documentation
Microsoft points out that error 0x80004005 may occur if some dynamic-link library files (. dll files) are not registered correctly, or if there is a firewall between the computer and the Internet that does not allow HTTPS (SSL) connections.
You can use the regsvr32 command to register several. dll files:
1, win+x key combination, select "command Run" (Administrator ID)
2, in the "command run", type the following commands, and enter the entry into force:
regsvr32 Softpub.dll
regsvr32 Wintrust.dll
regsvr32 Initpki.dll
3, click "OK".
4, restart the computer to take effect.
You can then upgrade the Win8.1 system to resolve these error code issues.
Programme two: New Installation system
This is also the simplest way to avoid the issue of the sale. Back up your data and activation information (you can use the Win8 of the Rubik's Cube computer to activate the information backup function, click to download the latest version), and then download the Windows 8.1 ISO image (get the tutorial) and install the Windows 8.1 system in a blank partition.
