Win8.1/win10 UEFI + GPT installation (test model: asus s 56CM), win10s 56cm
This tutorial briefly introduces how to install Windows 10x64-bit System in the GPT Partition Table in UEFI startup mode. (This is not a dumb tutorial. The installer must have some experience.) Next, we will briefly introduce UEFI and GTPs.
UEFI is developed based on EFI1.10. I believe you are familiar with it. At present, most of the Main Boards support UEFI boot. Compared with the traditional BIOS, UEFI overcomes the drawbacks of slow BIOS code running and greatly improves the system startup speed. Note that UEFI only supports GPT format partitioning. I have installed drivers and application software in my notebook Asus S 56CM (750G-HDD + 24G-SSD). The system can be started in less than 10 seconds.
GPT (globally uniquely identifies a partition table) is short for GUID. It is a standard for the structure layout of a partition table. Compared with MRP partitions, GPT supports more than 2 TB hard disk capacity, more than four primary partitions are supported. However, the XP system cannot identify the GPPs partition.
Operation tools
- Windows 10 64-bit Enterprise Edition/Professional Edition/Home edition ISO file (original system)
- USB flash drives with 4 GB or above available capacity (formatted as FAT32)
- Configuration Requirements meet windows 10 and support UEFI (this is usually enabled for new computers by default. If you do not enable it in the BIOS, Asus S 56CM will press F2 to enter the BIOS)
Preparations
- Load the operating system to the virtual optical drive (after win8, the system can directly open the ISO file), copy all the files in it to the U disk root directory (note that UEFI installation does not need to create a boot disk, copy it directly to the USB flash drive)
- If the hard disk partition format is MBR before the system is installed, you can use WinPE to convert the hard disk partition format to GPT format using DisKGenius Professional Edition (the software seems to be called "convert to GUID format "), note that you need to back up your files before conversion. Basically, you need to reinstall the disk. After converting it to GPT, you can also make the hard disk partition ready by the way. If it is difficult to use WinPE + DiskGenius, you can do nothing here, because when installing the system, you can also use the system tool to convert the partition format during the installation process, which will be described later.
System Installation
Insert a USB flash drive, start the computer, Press ESC (different keys on different hosts) to enter the boot menu, and select the USB flash drive option with UEFI.
The system will soon enter the installation interface. If you have not converted the hard disk partition format from MBR format to GPT format, there is a way to convert the format here. On the installation page, do not click "Next ". Press Shift + F10 to open the command window and execute the following four commands in sequence. Diskpart, list disk, sel disk 0, convert gpt. The installation process of the system is the same as that of the previous normal installation. If you still think it is difficult to convert the partition format, you can click "Next" to continue to the next step.
If you haven't converted the partition format before, it doesn't matter. When you select disk to install the system, the system will prompt "You cannot install the system to this partition ", the reason is that the UEFI installation method does not support MBR. In this case, you can delete all disk partitions, that is, change the entire disk to unallocated state, and then select to install the system to this unallocated disk, after that, the system automatically partitions the hard disk into a format that supports UEFI, and generates several smaller partitions that support UEFI. (after installing the system, you can use DiskGenuis to view the partitions and cannot delete them ), the disadvantage of this installation method is that after the system is installed, the system has only one partition. You need to use the disk partition tool to re-partition the system into the partition you want.
How to install IRST & ExpressCache after a new system is installed on a 24 gb ssd instance (only for Asus S 56CM and some computers)Symptom: "IRST (Intel Rapid Start Technology) Technology", some Asus models will not only carry mechanical hard drives, but also carry a 24 gb ssd, both the "IRST technology" and "ExpressCache technology" are supported. These two technologies use a 24 gb ssd to make the system start faster.
However, if you re-format the hard disk, the 24 gb ssd after the new HDD installation system is "idle", you need to re-download and install "IRST and ExpressCache" to make full use of the 24 gb ssd. Before installing these two programs, install the attachment RSTDSK and then install "IRST and ExpressCache" in sequence ".
Installation Method:
After installing the operating system, pleaseUpdate BIOSTo the latest version (this can not be done, Asus officially provides winFlash) andInstall ATKDriver (if you do not do this step, the subsequent software will not be installed), and then restart the system.
ATKDriver and ExpressCache: Download from ASUS official website. In the public utility, the above operating system does not necessarily adapt to win10. Just select the latest one. (Be sure to download the corresponding model, in fact, many models are also common.) Intel Rapid Start Technology: In other driver options, you can download the latest version from Intel official website.
1. Execute the createrstdsk.exe tool (If ExpressCache has been installed, uninstall it first.),Restart After installationTool: http://pan.baidu.com/share/link? Uk = 202206654 & hyperlink id = 347500 & fid = 2479753257 or Baidu search 2. Install Intel®Rapid Start Technology Program
3. Install the ExpressCache program and restart the system to complete the configuration.
SSD changes in disk management before and after installation:
Note:
Other hybrid Storage models that support IRST + RAID/Intel Rapid Storage Technology, as well as independent SSD hard disks that only support IRST, do not support attachment tools. avoid mistakes.
Program download:
Download BIOS/ATK/IRST/ExpressCache from the driver download page on the official Asus website,
Q &:
Q: Can I use the RSTDSK tool on the UX31E model?
A: No. This tool only supports Hybrid Storage (HDD + 24 gb ssd) models, and requires the installation of Intel®Rapid Start Technology & ExpressCache.
Q: Why can't I use the RSTDSK tool after S 46CM is installed with FreeDos?
A: update the BIOS, install the ATK driver, and then install the RSTDSK tool.
Q: Why does the software prompt "the system does not meet the minimum requirements for installing software" when the system is re-installed and ExpressCache is installed again after S 46CM is re-installed "?
A: Before installing the RSTDSK tool, uninstall ExpressCache and then install RSTDSK--IRST-ExpressCache in sequence. Why does the ESC and F2 keys fail to be used in Windows 8/10?When UEFI is started, you cannot press the key to enter the BIOS and system installation menus.
Press shift and select Shutdown (Start Menu --- Power Supply --- shutdown). Press F2, ESC, and other keys next time you start the system.
