Windows must also establish an Internet connection before using the Internet. Otherwise, even if the user's computer is connected to the Internet and cannot access the Internet, get information on the network. However, to establish an Internet connection, users need to select a service provider (I P) for themselves and request a user account.
Since the Internet is based on time billing, so in the selection of computers and the Internet connection, you must consider the network performance and price ratio, in order to spend the least money to achieve maximum results. For large enterprises, multiple users are required to share an Internet route, preferably with a dedicated line connection, which allows these users to share this high-speed connection across the intranet, while for the majority of users, home users and small businesses, using a modem to dial up to the Internet is the best option. Here, for example, to use a modulator and phone line for dial-up networking, for the user, introduce a way to establish an Internet connection using the Connection Wizard, as follows:
1. On the desktop, double-click the Connect to Internet icon to open the Internet Connection Wizard dialog box, as shown in Figure 1 2-2.

2. If you want to register a new account, select the "register a new Internet account" radio button; If you want to use an existing account, select the "Use an existing Internet account" radio button; If you want to set up a connection manually or over a LAN, select Manually set up an Internet connection or connect through the LAN radio button. Here, select the "Manually set up an Internet connection or connect over the LAN" radio button.
Note If the user is the first time an Internet connection is established, the two radio buttons, "Registering a new Internet account" and "using an existing Internet account" are disabled in the Open Internet Connection Wizard dialog box.
3. Click the Next button to open the set up your Internet Connection dialog box, as shown in Figure 1 2-3.

4. Click the Next button to open the Location Information dialog box, as shown in Figure 1 2-4.

5. Select your country or region in the "Where are you in the country" drop-down list box, for example, China; Enter the area code in the text box "What is your area code (or city number)", for example, 0 8 6; Enter the phone number for the outside line in the text box where you need to dial an outside line; Local telephone system use the option area to select the dialing method used by the local telephony system, for example, if you use pulse dialing, select the Pulse Dial radio button.
6. After setting the location, click OK to open the Phone and Modem Options dialog box, as shown in Figure 1 2-5.

7. On the Dialing Rules tab, click the Edit button to open the Edit Location dialog box to edit the location where you dialed; If you want to create a new dialing location for yourself, click New to open the new Location dialog box to set up.
8. Clicking the OK button opens the Modems tab, as shown in Figure 1 2-6.

9. Click the Add button to open the dialog box shown in Figure 1 2-7.

10. Enable the "Do not detect my modem: I will select from list" check box, and then click the Next button to open the dialog box shown in Figure 1 2-8.

11. Select the manufacturer of the modem in the Manufacturers list box, and select the modem model in the Model list box. If you want to install from disk, click the "Install from disk" button to install the disk.
12. Click the Next button to open the dialog box shown in Figure 1 2-9.

13. Select a port in the Selected ports text box, and then click Next to start installing the modem.
14. Click the Finish button to complete the installation and return to the Modems tab.
15. Click OK to complete the dialing settings and return to the Internet Connection Wizard dialog box, as shown in Figure 1 2-1 0.

16. Setting up Internet account connection information is a total of three steps, the first step is to enter the phone number that is used by dialing in I p, including area code, telephone number and country
Home (region) name and code. Then click the Next button and go to step two, you need to enter a username and password to log in to I P, the username is used to connect the service provided by I p, the password is used to log in to I p and is associated with the user name, and for security reasons, it appears as a "*" number when the password is entered. Click the Next button, to enter the third step, you need to enter the name of the dial-up connection, which can be either the name of the I S p or any name you want, with a name up to 2 5 5 characters, which can contain spaces that will be the name of the dial-up setting that you created.
17. Click the Next button to open the set up Internet Mail Account dialog box, as shown in Figure 1 2-11.

18. If you need to set up an Internet mail account, select the "Yes" radio button and proceed to the next setting. If you do not need to set up an Internet mail account, select the No radio button. Select the No radio button here.
19. By clicking the Next button, the Connection Wizard goes to the final step and informs the user that the Internet Connection Wizard has been successfully completed, as shown in Figure 1 2-1 2.

20. If the user wants to connect to the Internet immediately, enable the check box, and then click the Finish button. If you do not want to connect to the Internet immediately, cancel the selection of the check box, and then click Finish to complete the connection settings.
After you set up your Internet connection, the Dial-up Connections dialog box opens whenever you start an Internet Explorer 5.0 browser or other component, and if you want to connect immediately, click the Connect button; If you want to work offline, click the Work Offline button If the user has only created a dial-up connection and has not set it up, clicking the Settings button will open a Connection Settings dialog box, where it can be set.
Note If the user selects the Automatic Connections check box in the Dial-up Connections dialog box, the Dial-up Connections dialog box is not displayed when you start Internet Explorer 5.0 automatically when you launch it.
